OKAY here is another dumb question about headsets and radios and stuff.
My gyro has been set up for an ICOM A22 and the Icom helmet.

Recently I got an Icom A14 radio it works just fine with the helmet.
I got a Flightcom noise canceling headset and a new helmet. and the PTT switch that works with the standard 2 plug GA headsets.

The set up works great with my Avcom headset, and my Gulfcoast headset.
The flightcom headset has no side tone and apparently the mic does not work either with the set up. Is it the ANR headset? resistance, some squirrely impedence difference?
I cannot imagine that it requires something special when the other GA headsets work. very confusing.
I like the Flightcom headset because it is comfortable and fits under the helmet very well.
any help would be appreciated.

I downloaded the manual for the FlightCom "Classic" ANR headset. The wiring diagram for PTT is stock and definitely not non-standard. The impedence range for both the microphone and headphones are fairly standard and very broad (very tolerant). Most of the troubleshooting talks about making sure the little green light is flashing and the battery is in right. I'm not even going to ask if you have it on and a battery in it. :D

I will ask if you have it on MONO instead of STEREO although. Sometimes the phones won't work if the stereo gets in between settings. It should work with at least one ear even if the MONO/STEREO setting is wrong.

Too bad you aren't just a bit closer...a few moments on my bench would sort it out.

Jeeze Jon wish I was closer to you. I now have four helmets and two work with my Icom...sometimes.

I'll be danged! I plugged it up this morning and it worked?!?
Now to reinstall all that mess on the gyro again. Then recheck it.

I generally attribute those kinds of problems and results to solar flares and alien psychic projection. It would be a good idea to run out and buy an aluminum foil hat. :boink:

Actually I think the stereo/mono switch was in the middle, but admitting that makes me look really dumb.

Thanks for the help, I put a check in the mail. :D

I've done that....more frequently than I care to admit. I'd still go for the foil hat, though...just in case. :D
