Yep, I popped it! Looked at the exploded view in the manual I downloaded and it looked like a separate assembly behind the rope pulley. Nope!

I will bet I am not the first to spring a spring. Any advice on re-assembly when I get the rope ordered and in?

Thanks!

with gloves on start at the outer edge and work the spring around and down into the cup, it will get easier with each round, if this is new to you it is best to wear a face shield just in case you lose it half way through.

Phantom may be saying the same thing, but just to restate it. You do not take it apart. you can replace the rope while the spring is still contained otherwise as I understand things get messy.

I can't tell you more, since I just watched Ed Lemoine rewind mine for me. Hope he chimes in but if not send edypaul a msg.

my advise was for a spring that came out when the rope pulley was removed. If the spring is still in place it is a simple matter of installing a new rope and winding it up, if your rope pulley has a winding notch pull a loop out through it after the handle is attached and give it two turns beyond what is required to return the handle within an inch of the socket, if the pulley has no notch cut one about one half a rope diameter deep in the side of the rim that faces the flywheel.
