Does anyone besides David Clark make a helmet that goes over a headset?
I have acquired a couple of nice headsets, and was wondering if there is a helmet available that goes over the headset, or has anyone modified a motorcycle helmet?

I have a few headsets, helmets, and about 4 radios, I need to decide what to keep and what to sell.
Like this to get an idea. http://www.aviationsupermart.com/store/p/13298-David-Clark-K10-Helmet-Kit.html?feed=froogle

Scott,

I use the Comtronics PRO-COM (No Audio) helmet with my Telex (and various other) standard aviation headsets. It is reasonably comfortable. Basically, it is just a motorcycle helmet that has been stripped, cut and new inside padding installed to fit the new profile. Aircraft Spruce has them at $159.00...slightly less than on the Comtronics site.

Jon, I have a comtronics helmet already, it works fine, I just happened to get a really nice ANR headset with a radio and patch cords, all that is missing is the hard shell over my noggin. :)

Scott,

That's my point exactly. The PRO-CON (No Audio) is made for use with your own headset. It has no microphone or earphones, hence the lower price than the PRO-CON (with Audio).

Look at:

and scroll down to the hideously ugly green one. Part number: PN 11-07396

Scott, the pro-com doesn't have the audio built it. It should be able to be used a standard headset. http://www.ultralightnews.ca/comtronics/procom.htm

OOPS. Jon beat me to it.

Thanks! I'll have to stop by and try one on.
Gotta have something to do while I wait for engine parts. :)

Scott,
I put a flight helmet visor on one. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Tim are you afraid of air swerl in side the visor during flight? I would be very interested to hear how that works out.

I haven't had any trouble with my Gentex SPH-4 helmet. I wear goggles because of my contacts so the visor is mainly for the dark tint.

I know the ultralight guys flying Challengers and the like, love the Lynx system although it is pricey. They say it's quality for sound is top notch.

I have a pair of WHITE comtronics Pro-coms w/o audio.

I LOVE them and use them with several headsets including Telex ANR.

I am thinking about selling my 2 LARGE WHITE helmets and replacing them with black ones to better match my gyro. I would let them go for $100 each. They have about 250hrs on them. Good shape but some scratches on the top.
