I just came across this website showing a Lycoming powered Parsons Tandem Trainer.

Any news on this gyro, engine, and future operation?

The owner of this machine was in my shop today to pickup some new brakes for the machine. It should be a nice trainer when all done!

That gyro is mine.
Wayne, Brent - I have spent the past two years getting her together and to the point of flying. Lots of work, time, sweat, frustration, etc. But, it has all come together and will make it's maiden flight next week. At that point I'll need to fly some hours off the engine to satisfy the FAA. The engine is an O-290 and runs sweet. Skywheel blades. I will be training with it. As Rick mentioned, just yesterday I got some brakes from him to have hydraulic differential braking. By mid-summer I should be full-speed ahead with flying and training.

Steve, if you're an instructor, consider getting added to the PRA directory, and also let Mike Burton know so he can add you to his list of gyroplane CFIs.
Have you arranged for a LODA, or is the training a ways down the road yet?

Let me know how your doing on your LODA. We're not having much success in Northern Indiana and Northern Illinois.

Chuck,
I have already been in contact with the local FSDO about who to send the LODA request to. I will be using the LODA request letter template that Greg Gremminger came up with. I'll let you know if things go well or if I get my nose bloodied.

I'll be waiting with baited breath to hear how it goes for you in getting your LODA. I'm in the same situation, i'll be training in Illinois hopefully by mid-summer so i'll be applying for my LODA pretty soon as well.

Steve, do you know yet what your weight limit will be?

Tim - Will do.....and I will talk with you more at the CRA meeting on the 15th.
Sir Real - I haven't determined that just yet. Once I get to test flying next week I will get all those numbers pretty quick. I haven't updated the web site much lately. Basically, because there hasn't been anything new. However, starting next week I should be updating the site with all the current info, pax / student weight., etc., etc. Please check the web site or, as always, feel free to contact me directly.

Hi Steve,
I will be keeping my fingers crossed for your LODA. What size and pitch of prop is on the Lycoming O-290?
I'm wondering if the stock Bensen style vertical stab and rudder be enough to counter the torque? Curious to know how many pounds of static thrust that engine and prop combination puts out.
Thanks,
Wayne
