I've been considering building an overhead panel in my RAF 2000 to house my intercom after being inspired by one I saw in a Sparrowhawk. Constructing a panel is easy business...the problem is, I can't find an intercom designed for such an application. All I can find is the self-contained "Box" type and a panel mounted type. The panel mounts are similar to what I'm looking for but generally around 5" deep. I'm trying to build a small overhead box...not a divider wall!!!

Anyone have any knowledge around where I can get me an intercom designed for a small overhead setup???

Muchos Thanks!

You could always just build a little box for the controls and extend them from the unit via a few shielded cables. That way, you could put the actual working part of the unit anywhere you like. It is fairly minor "surgery" on most panel mount units. It can be done with portable box units as well, but it may be a bit more work. You are going to run wires outbound for the headsets anyway unless you plan to have cables hanging from the ceiling.
