Just returned from a concert last night featuring violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn (yes, that same Pitcairn family). She's the great niece of Harold; her brother David works at Piasecki Aircraft.

She plays the "Red Mendelssohn" Stradivarius violin, made in 1720, the violin that set the record for the most expensive musical instrument of all time when it was auctioned at Christie's for $1.7 million twenty years ago.

The sound is simply heavenly.

"Sonatas in Red" is simply outstanding performed, beautiful and yet….playful. It is under the video tab. Thanks J.R.!

The Red Violin is one of my all-time favorite movies.

I can only assume Elizabeth is the inspiration for the girl at the end of the movie...
