Here's hoping the weather will be more agreeable than this weekend!

I hope to be there, how does the runway look? It is a long way to drive without being able to fly.

today, Sunday March 7. It looks kind of rough to me for there are small grooves where rivulets of water ran lengthwise down the runway and some across the runway during the rains we had.
Toward the west end, barely past the fence, there is a small dip of three or 4 inches deep and about a foot wide across the runway where there is natural drainage in the surrounding field. The lake of course, still has water in it. It rained here yesterday but not today.

Thanks Marion, do you think with a little wind I should be alright?

I lost some weight last week, but only because I downsized my instrument panel. Lost 3lbs lol. I can't seem to lose any weight, so I took it off my gyro.

but it will be some time before it's usable again. Wind will help but still will need time.
I forgot to mention earlier that there are two sizable water puddles on the runway towards the west end. They are not deep and should be gone in a few days but the strip will still be rough.

Thanks Marion, how is the runway between the gate and Teddy's hanger? That is usually all I need.

Teddy, I have not gained any weight since last time I flew, so I think I will be ok

shows heavy signs of water rivulets running down the runway lengthwise, some across the runway and some diagonally across. About 75 to 100 feet from the gate ( looking towards the west) there are four or five ruts straight across the runway , all close together and each about a foot wide and three or four inches deep made from water rushing across the strip.

There are some diagonal ruts near Teddy's hangar. I picked up a couple of boards and some nails that had washed down the runway. Then there are deep hoof marks in the still damp soil from a race horse that got loose and ran along the runway then diagonally across it.

At the fence line on the far west, there is a deep rut across the runway from water rushing through where the old tires are piled to stop access to the strip from the side.

But, there are places where if you have enough wind you can get off OK. I would prefer a good stiff wind with a very , very short roll or vertical take off because it would be difficult to get the blades up on a taxi run with all the cross ruts. I'm waiting for the lake to dry up to take off on!

Today we have cold wind of about 8-10 mph. This morning when I got up there was one half inch of snow on my porches and I could see where it had alread melted on the warmer ground.

Thank You Marion, it sounds like the winter rains have taken there toll on El Mirage. Hopefully when the water dryes up the lakebed will be in good shape. I am planning on being there for the meeting, but I will be leaving the Mac at home.

They are calling for 32mph wind tommorow, that could be fun.
