Anyone :
Have any ideas about mounting a A-14 Icom on the side console or do you know if they make a bracket or holder for this radio if I would like to mount it.
Right now when I go out I am putting it is my inside coat pocket. Good place but when I get off the gyro I have to take the push talk switch also.......

Here's what I did with my radio. It sits on the top of my thigh when sitting down. Here's a link to a leg mount pad like I use: http://www.opsgear.com/MOLLE-Drop-Leg-Rig-p/cn-ma1.htm

For a permanent mount I have seen quite a few guys using aluminum c-channel. I think 2x4 c-channel fits around the radio almost perfect after you've added some weatherstripping to protect the radio and stop vibration.
They cut the c-channel out for the connectors and make a hinge lock for the top.

Here is on of Barry's snowbird I forgot I had.
I kind of like the way he has it done on the 1st picture. I would want it so that I could take it off it rained. I have have to rack my brain a little.

I have seen something like that but I have to say it is easy for you to look down at the radio, But I have a baby I have to get rid of then I would not have a problem either.................

I don't think I took any photos of it in my 2-place, but this is the same mount just with my GPS in it.
When I had the radio in it, I used a zip tie as an added precaution, in case I yanked on a cable in flight.

Yo Dog,
On the road for a few days, but here are a couple of poor pictures of my radio mount. If the concept is not clear I can get you a better picture next week.
Remember, I'm a Scot. I require functionality with minimum cost.
It's a piece of radiator hose bolted to the console, making judicious use of the natural bend in the hose. The square notch at the top fits the belt hook on the back of the radio. It is offset so it holds the radio pointing towards me and keeps it from spinning around. The rubber radiator hose also reduces most of the vibration to the radio.

Gidday,
My icom (a4) has a belt clip mount. I made a tounge like mount which it slips over.

Very cleaver Rocky, I like it. I'm impressed with Pilots who come with solutions on a tight budget....been there...still there...Dick

hey dog, on my icom a6 I had theres 2 screws on the back that hold a belt clip in place, Takes these screws out and drill 2 holes in a piece of 1/16" aluminum sheet and mount your radio to the plate with the screws!

It's not that no one wants to talk to you anymore it that you keep changing your name.
