As you all know we are strongly considering changing over to the UltraFlight magazine. I thought I would gather some information here to present to the board showing how many here would be interested is submitting articles to the magazine if it happened.
There have been an amazing cross section here on the forum representing all aspects of our rotorcraft sport.
I can see the potential harvest of many of you builders, flyers, flight instructors, or just some articles from an arm chair flyer that has a passion for this sport.
I have only submitted 2 articles in the past....and that I am going to have to change if this magazine changeover occurs. If so, we will have 16 nice glossy and in color pages to fill each month. The biggest challenge I can see is having contributers....and steady ones.
Many here have contributed several good articles....Greg Gremminger, Tim O'Conner, Chuck Beaty, and I am leaving out many others..so excuse me.
How about me asking for a show of hands from those that have contributed nice threads here on this forum, to do the same for the magazine?
Let me apply some direct pressure......I see a lot of good coming out of Red Baron here.....he is brand new in this sport....building his own GyroBee. I feel articles like that with lots of build pictures...drawings..etc. would be fascinating for the new audience of 5000 non gyro subscribers that have the other 2/3 of the magazine.
Tim...aka Animal....I see a lot of interest in your helicopter projects, and these would be excellent reading.
Vance......what can I say more about your experiences...both building, flying....and LOVE OF LIFE! How about some excellent sharing of these in the new magazine if we switch over?
John Rountree...aka All-in........ You are working tirelessly for our website, and when that is done, you would be an excellent contributer.
Chris.... Your across the U.S. experiences could be 6 months of articles alone that would captivate the readers as they follow your trail across the U.S. if such a series were submitted.
Clubs like Chapter 18 and their "Monster Hanger" experiences would and should be told.
Speaking of chapters.....I see the potential for each chapter to get a chance at this new stage to show what they are doing....or use this new exposure to be a catalyst to start doing something to write about!
Myself......I would be glad to share my gyro and helicopter build experiences...and my passion for experiencing both unpowered and powered rotors. Both have very unique advantages.
I am just abbreviating the potential pool of talent I see on this forum that could make filling our 16 pages very easy to do......if "we" just all could raise our hands and say..."yes...I would like to contribute".
Whatever response this thread receives will be presented to the board by myself.....of course they will be reading it here anyway...but it will be presented by myself showing either we have a lot of contributers to the magazine...or we dont.
I feel that providing fresh content from us all , instead of having to rehash filler material would make this new magazine a winner.
