Is there anyone who can help me.
My Rotor Tach harness wire frayed the insulation at all the points I attatched it down the mast. I have sourced another harness from amptronic in south Africa. It is the same as my original one with soft insulation of the cable. I have purchased five meters of clear plastic tube which I split from one end to the other and pushed the harness wire into it.
I will put some RTV on where the wire comes out of the sensor this time.
Now having gone to these lengths to make sure this repair will be durable I want to make sure I install it in the best possible way.
Could someone please send or post a picture or drawing showing where they routed their cable from the sensor on the mast to the base of the mast in the Sparrow Hawk I instalation.

How was it attached the first time?

It was attatched on a bracket at the front of the mast where the control rods attatch. That is as per the assembly instructions.
This time I want to attatch it behind the mast, beside the pre rotator
I had'nt heard from anyone so went to the airport today to make a plan. Looks like I should be able to shorten the sensor bracket and mount it without to much trouble. Just need a couple of AN4-30A bolts to mount the bracket.
Have you seen one on another Sparow Hawk ?
How did it look ?

I'm not familiar with the Sparrowhawk installation. On my single place KB-2 I had the wire for the rotor tach attached to the mast with some small adel clamps.

I have decided to remount the bracket behind the rotor head and run the cable down with the rotor brake cable.
Had a look at a RAF setup and it is better than I had.
Thanks for your help.

Colin Gibson :
Might want to post it in the Sparow Hawk section or ask Steve.

Colin,
I personally found the wire to be too fine from the sensor on Randy Coplen's Sparrowhawk (I don't know if this was original), so I spliced on a thicker cable a few inches from the sensor. I used shrink wrap to make this cable even more stiffer and durable. I also used plastic tie wraps bind the sensor wire to the bracket, and to reduce movement of the cable near the sensor, and left a moderate size loop of extra wire between the mast and sensor to soak up movement.

Thanks Heather,
I are surprised they made that harness so light as they sell the DX 9 as a 'Rotor Tachometer' and therefore should be well aware of the movement in a rotor mast.
I will not be attempting to splice on a thicker cable but have gone with the option of encasing it in another tube and will be mounting it behind the rotor head this time.
Cheers
Colin

The question was more in relation to finding different and better options to mounting the sensor and harness wire than the fact it was going on a Sparrow Hawk
