I have installed the SH1 heater control but do not like the mass of hose clamps etc. Does anyone have a better solution for controlling the H20 flow?

We took all the valves off and let it run all the time even the summer. The doors are off durring the summer and with the fan off you could not tell the the heat was on. I thought this was much better.

If you want the valves then you need two. one to allow circulation when the heater is off and one to stop the flow to the heater. The water needs to be circulate all the time.

Another option is to replumb each time you need the heat switched. This would happen in the spring (off) and in the fall (on). We did this one year and decided it was more work than it was worth. We then added snap vents to the doors and left the flow going to the heater.

Mike,
I like your suggestion. I think I will go buy more hose.

Steve- I did exactly like Michael mentioned. I ran my water through the heater year round....never felt the heat...and if you think about it....you just have that much extra cooling in for the water.

In the winter...that feels nice in the cabin. All that hodge podge of valves was ugly....after I hooked them all up...I just took it all off and wired the heater on all the time.

I think you made a wise choice.

I made a special valve up for mine that if you turn one way it allows coolant to go through the heater and if turned the other way just recircs to the engine.
No matter where the valve is positioned the engine always has coolant coming back to ensure proper thermostat operation and you can still control how much heat in the cabin.
