Thank you paddy! TONS of great info in this writeup, it's not just some fluffly, topical magazine article - they really go into some meat and potatos here. That's awesome, I've been wanting to learn more about Wallis machines and this really helps. For one thing it's interesting to hear more details about the blades, looks like they're a little more complex than I thought. And it does appear as if they are covered with doped fabric ("madapolam", whatever that is), we were trying to figure out what was used in a picture posted earlier of a broken cross section of one of his blades. It appeared to be a vinyl backed paper product in the photo, which it might have been (possibly being a later blade than the 50 year old originals). The blades are also shown with a a "metalised" leading edge, something that was not evident in the other pictures. The steel strap encased in the spar also appears tapered as does the wood spar itself. Great stuff, thank you for posting it. It'll be fun learning more about this machine.

He tends not to have anything tacked on to his machines that is not needed......funny then he has left those h stabs on that he says don't do anything!

I think the stabs were only on the high-speed versions.
His machines are CLT or very close to.
If they werent so compact vertically, they would look like a Dom.
Short mast, short prop, short blades.
Effectively a drop-keel setup.
Neat.
There is more meat in those articles than I've ever seen before.
