KDOG,
Have you checked with StarBee Gyros for those parts?
Most UL aircraft part suppliers will have stuff like axles, tube saddles, and stamped U-brackets...
Leading Edge Air Foils (http://www.leadingedge-airfoils.com/)
California Power Systems (CPS) (http://www.800-airwolf.com/)
Skysports (http://www.airstuff.com/)
Yes... 6" mains and a 4" nose wheel. Personally I like the round tread profile "wheelbarrow" style tires for the mains. That way, the precise camber of the main wheel isn't critical (for tread wear).
You're pretty much forced to go with a square tread profile for the nose wheel (because of the 4" size), but that's fine because it'll have zero camber anyway.
Regards,
John L.
PS: If you don't already have a printed catalog from California Power Systems, definitely buy one! It's packed full of informative articles covering Rotax engine maintenance and repair.

Wheel Group (http://www.starbeegyros.com/productdetail.asp?ID=18)
U-Brackets (small) (http://www.starbeegyros.com/productdetail.asp?ID=13)
U-Brackets (large) (http://www.starbeegyros.com/productdetail.asp?ID=12)
Saddle Fittings (http://www.starbeegyros.com/productdetail.asp?ID=23)
StarBee carries all that hardware. I'd recommend supporting them with our purchases of those types of items.
Cheers,

I probably will be buying that stuff from StarBee. LEAF no longer carries the Large brackets. As far as supporting StarBee, I am going to buy thier tail, cyclic control, wheel group and other things. So they will definetly get support from me!!!
Got any materials yet, Brian?

Not yet. I'm waiting to receive the first check from my new job at Whirlpool. As soon as I get it I'll be on the phone to Wicks & StarBee. I also have a new drill press to pay for  but it's a nice one! I'm guessing mid-week?
Looks nice. What kind is it? I got my 2'x2' 3/16th 6061 sheet, angle and nuts and bolts today, everything for phase 1. Haven't had time to mess with it yet. Tomorrow I'll take a look at it.
What materials/parts are you going to order first?

Made by a company called Fisch... real quality stuff. No plastic bushings or any of the crap they pawn off on bargain-hunting do-it-yourselfers. I try to make very informed choices, as is hopefully reflected in the questions I ask here. To my knowledge there's no "Lemon Law" governing shop tools :D
This may be a dumb question, if so forgive me, but is your 6061-T6 sheet stock ink-stamped as such? I recall you got a good deal on it as stated in a previous post, but I neglected to take note of whom the supplier was. Kinda like the old adage "Don't take any wooden nickels" I suppose, though I've yet to discern the origins of that phrase :D. I'm just passing along a tip I learned here.
I'm anxious to follow your GyroBee's progression. I hope you will post photos periodically throughout the duration of its build.
You know what's funny?... These machines take on a life of their own, almost as if we were conceiving and rearing a child. I suppose to some extent we are. Both a gyro and an offspring are manifestations of ourselves, each unique, and bearing traits of our own personalities. Part of us is "imprinted" in the machines we trust our lives with. Perhaps this man-machine relationship isn't so far from a spiritual thing after all... We feel like angels from departure to landing, yet prepared to meet God during that span in between. Could explain all the WWII nose art of our favorite thing
Ever wondering,
Brian Jackson
Yup, it has the ink stamping all over it. ALCOA 6061-T6. I do plan on posting pictures during its build. I got the seat brace angle in too, I'll be working on that today. I'm taking the sheet in to work tonight (I start 4-12s today) and me and another guy are going to take it to the machine shop and cut the cluster plates. They have a shear cutter, plasma cutter, etc....
