Falcon

Hi all, I am a new member to the list and just took my first ride a week ago, I am hooked!!! I will be taking my first lesson this Saturday. I will have several questions for the group I am sure. My first is for the Falcon, I have one which I bought from a family member on my wifes side. I am told it has flown, however it was involved in a tipover accident on landing. So it will need new blades and some minor repairs. I am looking for someone who might have an assembly manual and information about this machine. I have tried with no success to get information from Vortech. I have also talked with Neal the builder of the Falcon and he said that plans were never offered for this gyro. I need to get it registered what do I need to do? Thanks to anyone who could point me in the right direction.

Hello Gary!
Welcome to the forum!
I don't know much about the Falcon but you are asking a question in the right place.
Who are you taking instruction from? Do you have a picture you can post of your machine?

Here are a couple of pics. I am taking instruction from Mike Burton at Airgyro Aviation in Utah in the Sparrowhawk.

Very nice! Looks like an EJ-22. Do you know if it is direct drive?

Tim,
It is a direct drive, I have heard this is not good as the engine doesn't make full power. What are your opinions on this?

Gray you might try Rotornut, he is building a Falcon and he has completely dissassembled it to put it back together. I have a custom which looks like the falcon but I have a smaller tail and larger HS. That pod is a lot of drag out front. I would prefer a reduction drive because you double the torque for the same motor. But you will get plenty of free advise on the forum. Sift through it and keep whats good for you. you may be in luck with getting it legal under the new heavy ultralight rules . The FAA is trying to get all of us on board from what I hear. and you won't be penalized for add on safty equipment. Don't know this for a fact, just what I am hearing.
