How to make a prop spacer...

Part One!

Take Big-Ol chunk of aluminum and cut away everything that does not look like
a prop spacer.
Clean up the mess.
Mount in lathe and turn down, and leave 1" button.
That's all for now, I'll counter bore the back, and drill the holes tomorrow. or the next day. :)

Part Two:
I counter bored the backside of the plate with a 1" hole using a boring bar on the lathe, I forgot to take pictures.

Then marked the holes to be drilled with a transfer punch and used a center drill to start the holes.

Dog, I have the Arctic cat engine running and all the wiring sorted out, I have to get everything all squared away and tied up. Then I am going to tie it down and do a break in run on the engine and get the jetting dialed in.

The prop spacer is not for me, it is for Grant R's gyro, I keep picking up side work, and don't have time to get my own stuff done! :)

Scott, I was surprised that circle cutter cut that alum with a drill. What brand is it?

Mark, I think it is a "general" I bought it at Lowes or Home Depot, it was less than $20.
Just make sure that the bit is sharp and go SLOW, I think I had the drill press around 280 rpm.

The prerotator is going to be a dominator style straight up type.

I built one for Debbie's gyro, it has a "A" box mounted up, and I did angle it back about 15 degrees.

Looks good, man I bet it took forever to cut that out with that fly cutter.

I have taken chunks of square aluminum and turned it down round in the lathe before.

last time I used a fly cutter, the work became un clamped and well you can guess the rest.

how do you get your prop bolt holes lined up?

Looks good! Would it hurt it to be mounted 90o to the drive disc? Seems like it would not slip as much if more wheel area was against the drive disc.

No. Once it's run in, You'll have more! 1.035 x as much.:D Plus you'll have less "squirm" loss from diminishing ratio. :yo:
