Ron, I thought you knew me by now... I am selling because I want to start building a new gyro :rolleyes: I can't afford having two. The summer is ending here in CO, and I won’t be able to fly for much longer anyway.

Don't have a final decision yet. I have a long wish list, but budget and available tooling would probably help make the list shorter... We'll see. First, I have to find this baby a good home.

Well it appears to be a no reserve auction with a starting bid of 7500$. From what I know of that gyro and what you did to it, it is a steal at that price. Lurkers and Newbies.... This is a deal not to pass up!

I don't like reserve auctions, Ron. In a reserve auction you don't know if you will ever get the item or are you just wasting your time. See the other Air Command on eBay right now for example. The seller started high at $10,000, and his reserve price is even higher. Someone is willing to pay at least 10,000, but he can't bid the price up to the reserve price unless someone else is willing to bid against him. This seller might have an interested buyer, but the bidding might end without a winner. This kind of bidding may be good for items that have a large demand, but gyros are just not that popular.

The start price I have chosen is indeed low, to encourage people to bid. I hope the bidding process would find a fair price. If not... :(

Just reviewed the ebay site. Great job advertising! I know you live in CO - is density altitude performance been a problem? Think I could get my 220# carcass airborne with the 532 & DWs?

BTW, could Ernies tall tail go on this machine? I'm not a fan of the AC tail. I've flown both.

The DA was not a problem for me because I bought 24 ft DWs, which is about 2 ft longer then what I would need at sea level (I only weigh 150 lbs). My rate of climb is 700 fpm, which is plenty for me. I need only 5500 RPM to cruise at 60 mph and the landings are real nice.

In Phoenix you also have a DA problem, but I don't think it gets near our normal 6500-7500 ft. When I flew at Buckeye the temp was real hot and I believe the DA I calculated was about 5000 ft. In less hot (I know there are no cool days there...) days the DA is probably around 3000-4000 ft.

Considering the lower DA and the long rotor blades, I would think that the Air Command with the 532 would give you good performance. I am on a trip right now and I don't have my spreadsheets with me so I can't calculate the effect of your weight. You may call Ernie and ask him. The gyro empty weight is 347 lbs and the Engine is, as you know, 65 HP.

To install a tall tail you would need to raise the rotor head 2-3 inches. You may be able to do that with longer cheek plates. I don’t think you can install a tall tail with the existing clearance between the rotor and the prop.
