I've been looking in the FAA database for available "N" numbers, but I'm not sure how I want to choose one. I see lots of numbers chosen for builder initials, and know of at least one which includes the builder's PRA chapter number, but what other notable numbers or letters did you decide to include in your request for a custom number?

My first choice was 618JV 6-18 being my birthday but it was already taken. I finally chose 601JV. 601 is a standard of digital video I work with at the TV station.

My number is "12KJ." KJ is for my initials and 12 is for the length in inches of....whoops.....I forgot this is a family forum.

I just reserved a new number for a helicopter. N206BS Gee, could this be for a bell 206B Jet ranger? the "S" is for scott. I have found that when flying into a airport a identifying N number saves confusion about what the controllers have coming inbound at them. Especially if it is a common type aircraft. Maybe I should change the gyro last letters to "LC" for....lawnchair?
