"high-strength" washers for Bensen blades?

I was told that Bensen originally used special high-strength washers for the 8 3/8ths bolts that hold the blades on to the hub bar. I was told that originally these were red in color. Does anyone have any info on this? Is it necessary, and if so, where I might be able to find these special washers? I'm replacing my blade hardware because I lost the originals, and I want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff.
