I wish Larry would get a tripod for his video camera so the video was a little less shaky. But it is fun to watch him play in the air with his Gyro. Can't wait until I get to do that.

Larry could make a gyro tripod out of aluminum tubing and a rotor head for the camera tilt/head part. Wouldn't need the side pivoting part though.

Tim,
I'll bet if he designed and built it, it would include some kind of cool pneumatically controlled stabilization system. But I wouldn't hold my breath for anything like that soon as he is quite the busy boy right now. While I'm not at liberty to talk about projects he is working on, I can assure you that he is always working on cool new ideas and improvements for what he has already done. The guy never hardly takes a rest. He has a big dream and works very hard to see that it happens.

Doug, was wondering, and perhaps you know, why Larry does not engage this forum?
Seems like an ideal avenue...

"Sigh" - I love watching those videos, and still want to get a Butterfly. BTW, How's the build going Doug? I'll be up in SLC on the 9th, so maybe I can get a peek on what you've done on your gyro.

Michael,
Larry used to be very involved in the PRA. He eventually got burned out and tired of the politics and decided to leave it to others. I don't know if he has ever spent much time on the forum. He is a very busy man and works around the clock trying to fulful what he see's as his destiny. He would much rather have his network of Dealers represent his company to the public and leave him to work on designing and building the aircraft of the future. While we are still in the learning stage and need to ask him questiuons all the time, at least he is only dealing with a dozen people rather than trying to field questions from hundreds of people. There are times when he will come out into the public but as his dealer network grows I expect that will do a lot to free up his time to do what only he can do.
Anyone that wants to see him or talk to him, plan on going to Oshkosh as he will have a large exhibit near Aeroshell Square. I believe it will be close to where the old RAF Tent used to be each year. He will be there all week and happy to demonstrate his machines and answer questions. (I'll be there too, as will about a half dozen of his dealers) I have talked to him about coming to the PRA convention but I think he is going to take his Super Sky Cycle and go to Sturgis as he feels there will be a lot more potential buyers there than if he came to Mentone. We'll see how it works out but I hope to be at Mentone this year.

Terry,
You are always welcome to stop by. I would love to see you again. There are some things happening again with the SSC so there will be some new stuff to see,

Larry does not like wasting time and his debate skills are small.
Also he is very sensitive to negative comments and needs all attention and focus on his work.
I don´t see Larry coming to a Forum and explaining himself or giving out advice, he never gave any on other people´s work, he rather talk about his own invention.
WE got apart for my mundane behavior and fringe opinions on subjects like religion . . .he is very Christian and does not like to hear any doubts about his Savior.
I hope one day Larry´s stuff go commercial and make him a pot of gold, he deserves every once of it.
I still have him in my list of friends, as others from that group, great time in Texas! :)

Doug - Great! Looking forward to seeing you again as always. I'll be flying in on the 9th and off to Cheyenne on the 10th. I've a few hours of work in the day in Murray, but I'll be free from the mid-afternoon on. Should have plenty of time for us to catch up and admire the progress on your SSC!

Terry,
Also on Feb 9th the Utah Rotorcraft Assoc. will be holding a Webinar on the internet. There will be 2 sessions, one at 6 PM and one at 8 PM MST. So we need to make plans around being availble on the computer for an hour at one of those times.

Doug- Just curious.......I have seen Tim Verroi at Bensen Days do some impressive stop and drop landings with his G-force landing gear. Just how high can an average weight pilot stop it completely...then just drop in? I thing that would come in very handy over some rough terrain such as plowed fields....muddy fields...rocks...etc...

G'Day Stan,
Not sure if the 25 foot stop and drop video is in this package.
If not let me know, I'll email that video thru to you.

Stan,
I agree! I know many people look at the G-Force landing gear as a fun novelty feature but not really needed on a Gyroplane. While I agree, it is not needed (because they have obviously flown successfully for years without this feature) I also believe it is a huge safety advantage that could really be helpful in a situation where you need to come in vertically for some reason. Whether that was heavy brush or a plowed soft field or any other reason that would make a roll on landing problematic. And an added bonus would be if you ever messed up a landing and simply made a mistake and flared a little too high, it could take a bone jarring landing (that could potentially cause damage to machine or pilot) and turn it into a simple non-event. I think the G-Force landing gear is a huge advantage that is mainly minimized by people that don't have it,simply to justify them not having it.
