Since I'm not losing weight (250lbs and 4000ft elev.) I thought I would either sell my gyro and pickup or re-engine it.
Asking $5000 or best offer. View the pictures and read the details.
Bensen gyro modified to center-line thrust with tall tail. 24ft Dragon wings rotor blades; McCulloch 72 with exhaust system and R&D electronic ignition; freshly overhauled magneto; Bensen rotor head; Brock stick; Ora Cook seat tank; 1980 Datsun 4x4 with 179K miles on running gear; 70,000 on 2000cc 4cyl. engine (25mpg) with no oil leaks or usage. Good deal for those without a gold mine. Any offers can be made to my e-mail account, darrellwittke@hotmail.com or use private mail on forum. Thanks.

Darrell....you look skinny! How the heck can you weigh 250 lbs? Either those are very old pictures or you must be about 8 ft. tall.

(Unless lying down!) Six foot three inches and usually weighing between 240 and 250 pounds.
Come on guys! Hunting season is coming up, you could use the 4x4 to get the gyro into that backcountry strip, scout the elk or deer with the gyro and then haul your ill-gotten booty out with nobody the wiser! What a deal!
Seriously, This is a good deal for somebody on the lower end of the economic spectrum looking to get into gyro's.

Trucks value via Kelley blue book equals appx. $835. So how about 5000-835= 4165 plus fee for making me do math = $4200. So there you go, $4200, but I'm curious how you would get it home without the assistance of my fine chariot?

I received an e-mail that said the pickup carrying system was a clever use of the materials I had on hand. It was more than that actually, it was a conscious decision with a lot of blue sky dreaming about how I wanted to do it. I would recommend this method of gyro carrying to anybody with a semi-light bensen style gyro.
The benefits are: 1) Rotors carried in one piece! Unless you are masochistic and like stringing blades (it's not the stringing that's so bad but the bolt twisting, losing, proper (or not) torqueing, and handling) I suggest you make or steal a method to carry the blades in one piece and see if you ever go back. (Lucky stiffs with Hangars need not reply.)
2) Time. Sort of, my personal record for unloading and ready to fly was 12 minutes. Most the time it's about a half hour, bout the same as my mentor with his trailer and stringing blades but I usually had a little more time to preflight.
3) Cost. Us poor folks sometimes gotta keep the toy in the garage (and use it to hold up boxes of baby clothes) and can't afford a proper hangar.
4) Keeps the gyro out of the road grime. No rear wheels kicking up mud and dirt onto a gyro carried in the open on a trailer.
5) Suspension. The truck provides a softer ride than most unmodified trailers do as light gyros are, well, light. Snowmobiles, motorcycles and other toys are usually heavier, with trailers built for those loads.
6) Maneuverability. The pickup is easier to get around in than a tow vehicle and trailer. Especially when using 4 wheel drive to get to that back country strip just before hunting season. (OK, just kidding, kind of.)
7) Style points. All the good looking women wave you over to the side of the road and ask for rides. Try that with an enclosed trailer! (OK, just kidding, kind of.)
8) OK, no number eight, I can't think of any more reasons.
9) Wait! How about Resale marketing? You can have this fine gyro AND 4x4 pickup for $4000.00 dollars. (OK, just kidding, kind of. Did I say "or best offer" already?)
10) Best reason to carry your gyro in the back of your pickup? Little kids try to get in it when you carry it on your back!
