I'm going to be building the JT9 tandem tractor using trigear landing gear that was designed by Jukka Tervamaki he is a gyrocopter designer from Finland who has been designing Gyrocopters since the mid to late 1950's He worked with Igor Benson as part of his university studies. He also worked with Vittorio Mangi in the early 80's after Mangi had bought one of Jukka's JT5 designs and Mangi wanted Jukka to help him to design a gyrocopter.
I'm going to be helped in the building of the frame by the local high school shop class and myself who will be taking an aircraft welding class from a certified aircraft welder. The certified aircraft welder will be overseeing all the welding. A local steel supplier took the PDF files and converted them to non metric measurements and will be supplying the 4130 steel required for the frame.
The high school art class students will be competing to see which of their paint schemes will be painted on the polyfiber fabric.
I have several engine ideas for the tractor. I live at 5,800 feet above sea level. I will try to update the progress as we go along.
