Jose, I've never heard that myself and I doubt that it's true. Where did you hear it, or rfom whom did you hear it?

I doubt that is true. The alloy and temper denoted in its classification are a standard that manufacturers must adhere to during production. If it was any "harder" than this standard, then it wouldn't be designated as 6061-T6. Also keep in mind that with hardness comes brittleness, which affects fatigue life of high-stressed parts. So "harder" materials aren't necessarily better for a given situation. If plans call for 6061-T6, make sure any raw materials you purchase have that information printed on them. Otherwise it's anybody's guess what you're getting.

I heard it from a guy that was tacking to us last weekend . He say that the quality of the material they use is better.

If They sell certified to ALCOA standard they have to meet specs. Now if you are talking aluminum from CHina or stainless steel yes , of shore quality sucks. Canada stainless steel is superb.
Now aluminum price have gone up since China is not exporting as they use to . Now they are importing causing a shortage in supply and an increase in price.
The LME (london Metal exchange) price started this year at 1.25 a pounds of aluminum, is ranging now at 1.55. So If we think gyros will get cheaper just waite .
ALso hurrican charly have created a need for 600K pounds of aluminum just for replacements in FL. SO waite and see does prices.
Now want to buy a gyro do it now. Ernie hold to the aluminum is going up.

Wicks has a better selection than Aircraft Spruce, according to their sites. Wicks also has very inexpensive prices for it, but you have to buy it in 6' lengths, at least that's the case for their 2" x 2" sq. tubing. For convenience, you might consider ordering it pre-cut to length from StarBee Gyros. I hear their materials and workmanship are phenomenal. It's more expensive per foot, but if you don't want to be buying a lot of extra scrap, they're worth checking out. How much do you need? And for what kit?

Jose, I buy my material from: He has everything you could ever want. I would call him and ask about shipping. Shipping to P.R. might be a problem! If you mail him 3 stamps on a preadressed envelope he will send you a price list. ;)

Thank you Rick I will call him. Rotopix, I need the tubing for another bensen that I will built with a rotax. I am plannig to make a drop keel bensen (it will look like the falcon from Vortech) like the one that Scott is doing and Ron use to have. The normally tubing for a bensen is:
(2)6001-T6 1"x2"= 5' each
(1)6001-T6 2"x2"= 8'
(1)6001-T6 2"x2"=5'
and a 6061-T6 sheet plate ( I really don't know the size yet intill I get some info)
*They all are.125 of wall
This picture use to be Ron drop keel bensen...Oh! Rotopix I saw on a post that you are building a gyrobee. I check on gyrobee site Here (http://www.starbeegyros.com/pricesheet.asp) and I don't see any engine mount listed. I saw that the mass of the bee is 2"x2"
like the bensen. I am plannig to use a already build engine mount for my new project. Where is it listed?

Now that I post the picture . Does any know where I can get the high tail like the one on the picture? Or I can use the normal bensen tail diameter?

I think that is a Maxie Wildes Mad Max tail.
That is basicly the same gyro I am building out of what's left over from my bensen /KB3 .
