Does anybody on this forum have any information of the "Top Secret" UK gyro on page 22 of the June/July PRA Magazine.

I have three queries from the photos supplied.

How does the gyro maintain yaw control?
How does it produce enough thrust from such a small duct?
How would it maintain rotor to ground clearance in a nose high flare?

Being 15 years in development, I am sure that these potential problems would have been considered.

Good questions, Tim! I pretty much had the same ones except we don't know how the duct is designed. The fan looks relatively small so maybe the intent is to run it fast.

Don't be too sure! Sometimes people get enamored with the form and forget about function.

It's pretty, but looks like it could have yaw stability issues. I guess there's no sense speculating. We'll find out more if anybody ever sees it actually fly.

I'm glad that someone started a post on this. Now, perhaps it's just my imagination, but it looks out of scale when compared to the background pictures - i.e. to me, it looks like a model that someone to a photo of. If it is real gyro, it looks at least scaled down from the production model. It doesn't look like a stable flying platform from the pictures taken, either. Just my 2 cents.
