Color or non-colored GPS

I was considering buying a GPS for gyro and SEL flying. I have seen the Garmin 196 is about half the price of the 296. Is the extra price worth having a color screen? Thanks.

All of the Black and White (well, grey scale actually) screens I have ever used on Garmin and Magellen GPS are easier to read the then color screens when flying with an open cockpit.

In my enclosed FW the color screens work just fine though.
