Would like to know from experienced guys, which grease should be used for lubricating flexible shaft/case and - how often.
Thanks in advance,

I think I remember Ken J posting something a long time ago about using the oil used in refridgeration systems. That he got the best RRPMs using that type of oil.

I just use regular bearing grease, but I grease it after every flight.

you take apart and grease the cable after EVERY flight???? Sounds like your doing unneeded work here Alan! Why every flight?

I use chain lube seems to work well, with a shot of wheel bearing greese in the allimite fittings.

I use extreme pressure white lithium grease...super stuff my dad uses on his farm equipment. I rotate the cable end for end..and relube every 25 hours of flight. It still has all kinds of lube inside the cable.
I too use chain lube oil. I pull mine apart every winter and re-lube it. I think, though, that this winter I will try Stan's white lithium grease idea. It's slicker than chain lube, and probably stays on the cable as well as chain lube.

Mark: I remember watching Duane last year at Mentone with surgical gloves on relubing his cable. Worked great,,and clean hands when he was done.
I never see any grease oozing out the shaft..it has a real thick viscosity.

I didn't read the question carefully. I was thinking of the bronze bushing and pinion shaft. I haven't greased the cable yet, but will this winter. Probably will use chain

I've tried blue marine grease, axle grease, refrigeration oil and gear oil. They all seem to work well initially, but deteriorate shortly.....except for the blue marine grease. It seems to last the longest. Just twist the shaft by hand to see if it needs re-lubing. If it turns easily, it doesn't.
