Now, don't hate me because I'm lucky. I've been flying all day, and nobody will take my money!
I work for KUIK, a radio station here in suburban Portland, Oregon which does wall-to-wall live play-by-play of the Oregon International Airshow - Hillsboro. As a member of the media, I was invited to fly this morning with the Red Baron Pizza Squadron, in this case one of their two-ship teams in town to perform in the airshow. These are Stearman biplanes, scratch built from the data plates up for hard aerobatics. Are these planes not gorgeous?
1. Me (on the right) getting ready to fly with a pilot named "Todd." (!)
2. We were flying much closer than it looks in this photo.
3. Attempt at arm's-length self-portrait in the tight confines of the cockpit.
4. Starting a hard bank in formation to return to Hillsboro.
