Rod Reed, Mike Morgan, Jeff Brevelle and myself decided to disturb some air molecules this afternoon. The temperature was 80º and calm, so we decided to visit Thibodeaux's Airstrip north of our airport in Abbeville. I brought my camera and managed to snap a couple of pics. We could have had a couple more gyros in the air, but we were fresh out of pilots!
1. Formation shot.
2. Formation shot.
3. Rod Reed on his KB-2.
4. Jeff Brevelle in Mike M.'s 503 Air Command.
5. Mike Morgan on his Bensen.
6. Thibodeaux's Airstrip.
7. Thib's Hangout.
8. Formation flight.

Here's a few more pictures:
1. Self-portrait (put it in your hangar to scare the roaches away!).
2. My hangar (you can see the nose of the tandem AC).
3. The fleet.
4. Mike Morgan, me, and Rod Reed.

Last two pics:
1. Rod Reed taking off in his Mazda-powered A.C. tandem.
2. Rod in the tandem. (That is the sun behind him...not his head exploding!)

Great shots Mike. Could I use the one of the 3 of you to scare away the mice, squirrels and those babes that keep bothering me?

Nice shots, Mike. I wish I could have been with you guys.
Have any dates been discussed yet for the next chapter fly-in?

Mike: Way to stir the air... :D That formation shot is really cool.
This forum is really coming to life with pictures. Its refreshing to see others really enjoying this sport.

Mike Very cool pics. I don't want this to be taken the wrong way though, but what is it with your area? Lot's of HTL machines running around....???
I like the formation pics and also that Airstrip hangout. I like a neat kept up airport, Goose Creek looks like no one gives a rip, I hate it.

Glad ya'll liked them.
Ken, you're welcome to use any picture you want, but be careful...the damage may be irreversible! It may become a permanent babe-free zone!
Ron, It is definitely HTL country, but the tide is beginning to turn...
Thibodeaux definitely has a flair for decorating, doesn't he?

Rick,
we'll just have to see what we can do!
I do have some video clips that I can upload to either my website, or our chapter website. I may see about that this week when I get a chance.
The CDI is working great, and I may have another convert calling you for one here shortly. :)

Gaspard,
Think we could have a chapter meet at Thibodeaux's Airstrip?
How in the world did you get Rod to the airport?
Sure is good to see a few CoonAsses & one Yankee flying around.

Hello, Mike, I called Rick about a CDI but he did not have any at the moment. I am ready for a change, I took my mag down and found the retaining clips on the coil had departed and got into the mag rotor. I think it was causing a missfire or intermitting fire. I have it all apart and cleaning to put back together. As a matter of fact I was looking for the thread you posted with your CDI when I saw these pictures. I thought Rod was coming to Pineville for EAA breakfast. But I am glad you guys were airborne. I am ready for a Sept Fly in.

For those of you who like the formation shots, these 3 guys arrived at our Jenning Flyin in formation and then decended on the airport each with their own style of decent. It was alsome. I now have a good digital camera so the next time it happens maybe we can get a video on our web page. These guys are a team but individually they really help us newcomers to the sport.

Mark,
Are you speaking about the Flyin May 5, I was there and was impressed with the formation as well. I'm hooked and will slowly evolve into Gyro's, and you can see by my avator I will be flying PPC"s, getting instruction at present, but want to eventually build up a Gyrobee.
Mike,
Four Ultralights, 3-FW and one red RAF 2000 flew over my field Sunday afternoon, Who fly's out of thib's with that gyro? I also saw him flying out of Abbeville once. But If you are SE of Jefferson Island look for a open field with
a pond. That'll be my field I'll be flyin from, you're welcome to come on in.

Glenn,
That was probably James Thibodeaux, and the crew from Thib's airstrip. There was a bunch who went to Jennings, and back.
