I just found an advisory at the link (below) that raised a bit of concern. I (with others -- see thread under RFD) am considering using 68" props with a rotax 503. From the advisory I get the feeling the hubs fail more often with >64" props? What's the word on this? Sorry if this has been kicked around...didn't find any info in archives/elsewhere.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

Yes, this has been "kicked around" a few times before. I believe lighter props, such as the PowerFin, Sport Prop, DUC Prop, Arplase, etc. are much better than the heavy Warp Drive prop when used on rotax gear boxes, especially if the prop is long. BUT ... others will argue with great vigor that Warp Drives are the best, most popular and well proven.

I have a 73" 3 blade F type power fin on my MZ 202P and it is fine. I think the power fin is better for the 503 if you want to use a 68 or longer prop. But if you are not going long and 60" is all you can use then use a wrap drive it is more durable than the PF.
