Went for a bike ride up in the mountains today. Did about 220 miles. Had 13 bikes total in our little group.... One of them was Ultracruiser41 ( the only one with a yellow helmet! )
Sorry video cause of the wind noise, took off in first gear and held camera with my left hand, drove the bike with my right hand.

At the Ft.Payne airport yesterday at the "Dare" program there was a motorcycle / airplane race. The motorcycle hit 172 mph! He beat the rv7 ,big time! I have never seen a motorcycle go so fast in my life.

Connie and I rode the Blue Ridge this summer it was a great time.

You were there and didn't call? I am less than 2 hours from the parkway.... and I love riding on it.
Somewhere Barry ultracruiser K has some pictures of me and another one of our riders in our group, busted for running a redlight. The lights sensors wouldn't trip with only motorcycles at it and we got skipped through 2 light cycles, so the next chance we got we went for it... stupid us, we never looked behind us for the fuzz... there was a state trooper behind us and he hadn't been there long enough to see how the light was skipping us over and over. Luckily the cop was reasonable and he let us go.

I tried to drive the "dragons tail" in our car! Wow is all that I can say. Some of those guys on their cycles scared the poop form me just watching.

Sorry, Ron. Did not know you were so close. I posted that we were there and even Animal called us!
Get a big carbon magnet and mount it under your bike. It will kick off the light sensors. Works like a charm.

It is a 2006 or possibly a 2007, Kawasaki 250. A KLR I think.... It belongs to the guy who owns the airport I am hangared at, Mike Bick. He has a handle on here as " Blue sky down " We talked him into coming along, he had a great time. His bike was fast in the twistys, but a bit underpowered, especially on the freeway getting up to the parkway.

Ron, You need a magnet on your bike like Tim suggested. http://www.thelightchanger.com/
I had one on my last bike and it really makes a difference.

Yeah, I had to ride my enduro (Suzuki DR350) to work today because there were trees down still on my road.
She redlines in top gear at just over 70mph. She is geared for use off road.
It will climb a vertical wall like a fly though!
On the twistys no cruiser will take a good enduro especially in steep inclines and climbs but open highway on a 1/2 mile or longer stretch that is a different story.
Connies enduro is MUCH better on the highways and much more docile on the road. It is a Yamaha XT225. It has the best mix of street/trail that I have ever seen.

Tim it sounds like you just need to order different sprockets for your DR. I had a DR too back in the late 90's, and it seemed like it wasn't all that fast either. What was impressive about mikes bike was he had replaced the rear tire with a off road only knobbie, same kind of tire you would put on a motorcross bike. It held up pretty good for such a long road trip.

My last bike was a Magna. My wife didn't think it was comfortable riding the 2 of us on it. I'd like to get something else to ride back and forth to work. I've been consdering an enduro. I had a Yamaha DT400 as my first bike way back when.

Yeah, a smaller back sprocket would make a better street bike out of it but I have lots of street bikes.
I love the low end power it has.

Probably not in the cards, but have you looked at the newer Suzuki DR400 bikes? They make a strickly off road version and a on/off road version and they are WAY more powerful and better overall than the old 350 was. one like this.... http://wenatchee.craigslist.org/mcy/829487169.html
