I am getting ready to build a gyro this fall - hopefully a Sparrowhawk.
Does anyone have any thoughts on wether I have an option of registering it as a regular experimental or must it now be an experimental LSA?
Do the experimental LSA's still need to meet the 51% rule?
It looks like experimental LSA's can tow (gyrogliders?) but is there any other advantage to what you can do with an experimental LSA vs. a regular experimetnal? I guess sport pilots could fly the experimental LSA but not a regualr experimental? Anybody have thoughts on other advantages one way or the other.
Can I instruct in my new machine either way if I have a regular CFI cert?
Regarding repairs - even if I build my own experimental LSA it looks like I still need an additonal course of 120 hrs to repair it. Is that how others read the rule?--
What happens to existing experimental gyros if we now start licensing new pilots with just a sport license- those older gyros could only be flown by regular PPL's or higher?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
