Mike, Todd:

In the last week I have gotten a lot of these:

Now there is a good chance you were already aware of this.
But I can provide both an explanation and a solution!

Explanation
Through careful observation of the activity on the website I have been able to find the likely reason for the server overload.
Now we all know how industrious, prolific and active John Rountree (aka All_In) is.
Well I have noticed that every time the server chokes John is listed as present on the site.
The man is holding this whole gyroplane community together through his incessant rallying and encouragement, as well as his thoughtful contributions the depth of which should put Greg Gremminger to shame!
The database is overflowing, the bandwith is choked, the logs are full and the CPU's brought to a crawl.

Solution
I suggest we start a collection so that we can afford to send Steve McGowan to southern California, maybe even help him relocate over there.
In exchange he will promise to coach John in flying gyros.
Once John experiences again the exhilaration (look it up lieber Freund) he displayed in Mentone we can be sure he will spend most of his waking hours flying and will have little time for gobbling up the resources of this poor Rotaryforum server. ;)
Don't thank me guys, I'm glad I could help this community too.

Yves aint dat de troof man!!

You echoed my thoughts, now there is a man with ants in his ants and what enthusiasm!! When he does begin flying there will be no hope we won't get a word in edge-ways. What a pleasure. He's a mover.:first:

Yup has few of these busy signals myself. Thought it was due to too many newbie busybodies like myself snooping around.

John it's called being a breath of fresh air. Of course you will have to learn to fly a gyro... but then again I guess us newbie F/W' ers may get some tiny bit of credit for getting our asses off 'Terra Firma' even if it wasn't on sling wings.

Yves,

Thanks for the heads up on this. Like Mike, I haven't seen this at all and I check the forum several times a day. I'll do some cleanup and optimization on the database in the next couple days. That usually does the trick.

Todd:
The worst I have seen was Saturday afternoon, say 1-4 pm.
Every 2 of 3 requests was returning the busy signal, and I must have hade 40 or 50 roundtrips attempts.
Surely, the logs should tell us something.
