Dear Rotary Winged Enthusiasts,

With EAA's Oshkosh and the PRA's Mentone Events in August, we took the month off. However it will soon be Sept. and our next Event is coming up soon so I thought I would send out a reminder. Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be the first Sat. in Sept. (9-6-08) at 10 AM and will be held at the Airgyro Hangar at the Spanish Fork Airport. This month we will have our regular business meeting at 10 O'clock as normal but after the meeting we will be adjourning to the Hangar for Food and Fun. We will be grilling hamburgers and having a Pot Luck Luncheon as well as checking out some new Gyroplanes and doing some Flying.

We had a lot of new people request more information and show an interest in joining our organization, at the Helicopter Meet in June, so hopefully many of them can join us this month and get to know the group better. It should be a great meeting and a good time to socially get to know one another better afterwards. Please feel free to bring Spouses and or Kids that would have an interest in what we are doing. If we can get some of our members to bring their Gyro's (even if they aren't flying yet) we should have quite a few different Gyroplanes for everyone to check out. Mike Brownlee should have his new Butterfly Aurora there with a Rotax 912S, G-Force Landing Gear and the new shaft drive Metro Launch System. That will be an incredible Gyro to check out and see what it can do. And hopefully we will have some others there as well.

Larry Neal (designer of the Butterfly line of Gyroplanes) will be making a trip to Utah, next week. I am not sure what his schedule will be like yet but if I can, I would love to schedule a time when some of our group could meet him and talk Gyroplanes for a while. Maybe we could schedule a luncheon at a restaurant or something like that get to spend some time talking to him about Gyro design. If you would be interested in being part of that group please respond to this thread so I can get a count of how many people would like to meet him. Also if you would be willing to bring something (food item) for our Pot Luck Luncheon on the 6th, let me know so I can make assignments and make sure we get everything covered.

See You All Soon!!!!

John,

I would love to see a Gyro there also, but mine won't be ready by then. I would love to be there for the Fly In but my family will be attending the Fort Bridger Rendevous up in WY that weekend. If I can get them to come home on Sunday evening I will try to scoot down to Delta for the Fly In on Monday and I will look for you. Have fun and I hope to see you there. IF you want to stick around for a week you are certainly welcome to join us in Spanish Fork on the 6th. However, I realize that is a long wait or a long drive 2 weekends in a row so I won't hold my breath waiting to see you there. Have fun!!!

Guess What? For our Sept. 6th Chapter Event we are going to have a special guest. Larry Neal's trip to Utah is happening a few days later than he had originally planned so he will be here sometime during the week of Sept. 1st and I have talked him into staying in the area long enough to attend our Event on Sept. 6th. So anyone that is in the area and would like to meet and talk to Larry about the future of Gyroplanes (as he see's it), come join us at 10AM at the Airgyro hangar. See you all then.

The Spanish Fork Airport has closed it's runway so they can put in new runway lights. So we have decided to change the location for our Sept. Meeting. We are now going to be meeting at the West Desert Airpark. This is located just south of Fairfield, UT. (same place we held the Fly In in June) Everything else will be the same as previously announced. There will be a BBQ and Pot Luck Luncheon afterwards. Larry Neal will be out special guest!!! and he will be demonstating the new Aurora Butterfly with the Rotax 912S that he just sold to Mike and Reed. There will also be several other Gyro projects there (on static display) It will be a great time so come and join us.

For those who weren't able to attend our Chapter Event last Saturday, all I can say is you missed a great time. We hope you will put our next meeting on your calendar and try to make it. Our next meeting will be on Oct. 11th at 10 AM so try to keep that slot reserved for joining us.

We had 17 people attend which is the largest group we have had to date. Several members brought wives or fathers with them so it really turned out to be a fun social activity this time. Besides getting some decisions made about the direction the organization will take in the future we got a chance to talk to Larry Neal and ask him questions and learn about some of the projects he has in the works. The food was great and as usual there was way too much but it was a lot of fun sitting in Mike and Reed's new hangar and eating and visiting. We also got the the chance to check out some Gyroplanes. Our last event (in June) had 3 Gyroplanes at it and the 2 that were flying were both from out of state. This event we had 4 Gyroplanes and they were all from Utah. So it is growing in the right direction. Gary brought his Avenger, I bought my Super Sky Cycle project, Airgyro came to the party with their Sparrowhawk with the new Turbo'd version of the Rotomax double rotor engine and we also had the newest Butterfly Aurora (with a Rotax 912S) there. We got a chance to see Larry fly the Aurora, however the Rotax wasn't running smoothly (seemed to have a fuel starvation problem) so he limited the flying and wasn't really able to show off all the things the Gyro can do. But at least we got to see it fly.

Our chapter has been in existence for a year now. We are adding new people every month and now we are even starting to get some Gyroplanes in the group. Life doesn't get better than that. Hope to see you all soon.
