Mitch,

It sounds pretty cool doesn't it. I wondered what that Rotary engine would sound like. I noticed the camera didn't ever show much of the engine installation. I'll have to ask Larry if it's time to start telling the world what he's doing with the SSC. Pretty cool stuff!!!!

That ship is great ! In German we would say: THIS is the egg-laying-wool&milk-producing pig (=one for all needs).

Canīt wait to see the final specs for the serial.....

Hey Doug,

You must be getting excited and closer to flight.

Yes it's a 'ball tearer' of an engine.

Mitch.

Doug,

The details are on the spec sheet and the video is on Youtube, the word is out.

Angelo,

search youtube for skycyle and you find a lot more videos, showing also how the rotorblades fold back, how it flies, and even glimpses of the enclosed 2-place commuter.

like here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTNz6NftP34&NR=1

Larry has many great ideas and is careful about patenting them first before publishing. I with him best of luck with this fantastic endeavour.

Actually, the central "flying car" patent could possibly be challenged, because there was the Pitcairn AC35 which also was a car with fold-back gyro-rotor.

But the rest is genuinly new.

Angelo,

I agree !!! This is about as close to a "one machine that can do it all" as I have seen. Larry has designed his machines to be completely upgradeable so a person could start with just a light, fully open machine and then as his needs or desires change it can be upgraded to include the G-Force Landing Gear, the Metro Launch Pre-Rotator, or the fairings to make it a partially enclosed machine or even a full body enclosure to make it more of a cross country machine. And of course for the really "all in one concept" you can go with the Super Sky Cycle and have a street legal 3 wheeled motorcycle, that can take you down the road when you don't choose to fly.

This summer at our Fly In, we had a pilot have an engine out situation. Luckily he was able to land without incident in a nearby pasture. But it took us about an hour to get a truck and trailer and go get him and bring him back to the airport. I was thinking about that incident and realized if that had happened in my Butterfly SSC, I could have just landed, then started my "drive engine", and drove back to the airport myself. I am thinking there are probably lots of places a Gyro could land (especially with the G-Force Landing Gear) that you could not safely take off from. With the Fly-Drive machine you can just drive it to a better spot to take off and then fly again without all the fuss and hassle of trailering it out of a tight spot.

That is about as close to a "one machine that can do it all" concept as I have yet found. I can't wait until mine is done.

So it's gonna have two engines?
One to fly, and one to drive?

That does sound like fun Doug!!!
Thanks for keeping us posted, and I think we all can't wait until your in the air!! I know I can't wait to see it fly!!!
