Hey Tim. Nice to have met you face-to-face at Mentone.

I'm sure you've noticed the "ideas" in my signature. If I were to draw in 100 new members with the ideas below, I wouldn't have anyway of keeping track of my score. Not that it matters. Winning the contest isn't high on my list.

Up here, the flying season didn't really get going till after Oshkosh. There has been some flying event going on in this area just about every weekend since the end of July. These fly-ins are great opportunities to get out and push gyros. And Tim Blackwell and myself are doing just that.

My intention with this reply is to just keep the future of the PRA in everyone’s mind. It seems as if the Convention and membership numbers has slowly faded away from peoples minds.

BUMP!

Sign up members and send their names in an email to prachapter34@yahoo.com

If you are a new member as of this year you can include yourself!

Anyone signing up 2 or more members should at least get a free membership out of the contest.

Sunstate has signed up several new PRA Members, but we choose to support PRA and keep them coming. To us our Dues are going to good use.

We do have several questions about a Calendar Magazine? Any hope of getting it back? April Month should be BD Days, July Mentone, Oct ROC, etc. MJ :)
ps/although my goal has always been to be the Biggest Chapter!! lol

MJ,

I am a little confused by your post. We are not running a membership drive for chapter 34 it is for the PRA.

As far as the PRA magazine goes Rick Gilley might be able to answer those questions. There is also a PRA magazine thread. Thanks!

Tim, As you know I dont do things the Right Way. As for the Membership drive we choose to join up members for PRA and Sunstate and not take the paid year membership in PRA. We push for all members to be PRA members.

Sunstate is now at 89 members and growing. I always wanted to be the largest club, Charlie and I used to joke about it. But No Joke I would like to be the largest and most involved in PRA.

After all My Family is PRA. Richard Loves to Fly and I am Behind him. Me I am happy to be the co-pilot. lol.

As for the Magazine I will keep on Hen Peeking Away! MJ :)

Good to hear your club is so healthy.

Which club has more than 89 members?

Please let your members know about the drive!

Most Sunstate members are aware of the Membership Drive. And we support it 100%.

MJ, A big reason for the sucess of the Sunstate chapter is you! I have not had an interaction with you where the world didn't seem a little bit brighter. Thank you for the sunshine, Vance

Vance Thank You for the Kind Words. I have not meet all who particapate on the Forum, but to me all of PRA is Family. BD Days is a lot of work, but I enjoy it so much that it is all Worth It. MJ :)

Tim,

The final date came andf gone without notice. Who are the winners?

barnstorm2

No one submitted an email telling how many members they signed up and thus no winners.

Rando

I will give away two free memberships to the 1st and 7th non PRA members who email me at: n503r@excite.com

This is for all you "lurkers" out there who want to join but are to cheap to pay the annual membership fee!

Why am I doing this? Because I am tired of reading all the negative posts about the PRA so I challenge any PRA member to come up with a better idea to increase membership!

So to repeat my offer, the 1st and 7th email I receive at n503r@excite.com will get a one year paid membership to the PRA. The 2 people must be a first time, new member. No renewals! I will verify this with the PRA officer prior to paying your membership. This offer is for a regular membership - U.S. only = $35.00 per winner.

Good Luck!

Sunstate signed up two from other countries and one from Fl and gave a application to on in MI. I know I got the money for the first three, but I did not submit any evidence to back it up. Gave regestrations and checks to Glenn and Pam at BD Days.
Would love to see a family that Dads already in into PRA but yet he has a teenage son who likes and enjoys going with Dad to the fly-ins to get a Membership and see if he wants to go forward and learn to fly, with Dads permission and all. More youth that get interested the more likely they will return later in years or maybe just stay hooked and come up wanted to be CFI/BFI or Inventor , Kit Builder worth the effort to offer and see.
Trinity when he was 8 could not touch the petals but he flew, then as years past he started liking to learn to fly and enjoyed it. When Jamie has his crash he really was mad and hated the machines, but after he watched Jamie come back to Fly again and still Enjoy it. He again hijacked rides with Ernie, Steve, Rusty etc. But after some loss of friends and people he had meet and knew he has shied away some. Still Flys but the gun-ho attidude was lost some. But could return as he matures and learns. The Choice always was his.

Just glad they joined and hoping to have them in our Big Family around the World.
I must say I was shocked 6 months ago in Labelle when a President of a PRA chapter in Purto Rico showed up for our Monthly fly-in. He was in Fl and knows several members in Sunstate so he came visited us and went over some old magazines with me in the club house showing me pictures and storys of their fly-in over in Purto Rico. Look like very nice country in the pics. But his name slips my memory. To many drugs today. Familys are nice to have when Man join PRA, if only we had the answer to keep all busy with activities but hard to plan and organize.
Just some Thoughts. Rambling I know MJ :)

Maybe I am the only one, but for the last several years I have not received any kind of renewal notice. I had to call Pam later when the magazine stopped. I would think that sending at least two notices after non-renewal might help to boost membership far beyond its currently shrinking state. AOPA must send me 10 or 12 things a year to try to get me to join. Spending a dollar to try to keep from loosing a member is much easier than trying to find newbies. Anybody think this is a good suggestion?

I think that is an excellent suggestion. Also, sending subscription forms to past members might be useful as well.

Scott,
I don't know the reason why you haven't received renewal notices. I do send out two sets of notices to the members. The first one is usually about five or six weeks before their due date. The second one usually two weeks before due date. If it happens to be a month where we have lost more than our usual 40 percent drop-out, I send out a third set of notices.
Thanks,
Pam

Pam,
You might consider sending an email, acknowledging receipt of a new memberships. I sent my application for a new membership about 10 or 12 days ago, and haven't heard anything back. Not sure that it didn't go off to ethernet heaven.

Ron,
I do believe that I processed your membership this past Wednesday along with 59 other memberships. I mailed out all memberships info on Friday. I'll double check on this for you Monday.
As to email acknowledging receipt of memberships, I'm going to check with our webmaster to see if a way can be done to automaticly let people know that their memberships have, indeed, been received. That way would sure help me out.
Thanks for your imput.

Well Pam, I just don't seem to get those notices as described. Must be being stolen with all the welfare checks I am supposed to get. Not one of them has showed up either!!!
