Gosh Birdy....you can see the stick being fiancéd so well that the gyro just hung there with very little movement....I hope someday I will be able to do almost as well. Ridge soaring looks like so much fun......and good for skill practice.

I don't want to get into the "Hovering" argument, but danged if you didn't park it up there over that ridge! :D
.

what was the windspeed at the time, aproximately?
Duno Kai, bout 20 mph, with light gusts to probablty 30.
It was only a little round hill bout 80' high, so theres not alota 'up' power off it, and the ridge is hard to find and hard to 'sit on'.
Bout 60 miles south of ere theres a perfect soaring ridge. 5-6 mile long, 300' high and perfectly diagnal to the prevailing wind.
Just 'mount up' on one end, return to idle, and crab sideways for the hole way, or just sit there with the eagles. ;)
Warning: can be very powerfully hypnotic. Pilots tend to doze off after one or two hours. ;)

Birdy: That was great. Good steady control. Love that awesome terrain you have.
