I'm pretty sure that's it was done by arc welding. On the top weld you see slag inside the pitting.. Shouldn't get that with mig. Way to low power. And check out the size of the hole where the cross tube goes through.:der::puke:
I think a blind mans seeing eye dog, would do a better job.
That's why this 51% build rule is scary.

This gyro is a pile of crap!! --The 51% rule is NOT scary -- it is the responsibility of the builder to insure that it is competently made--- I really think that ANY inspector loking at this workmanship would not approve it --if they did approve it they should be SHOT!!(or required to fly in it!!)

I agree with Mike, it's :censored:. The sad thing is the amount of effort involved with getting the fuselage framed-up, only to have it turned into scrap by poor welding.

The 51% rule is NOT scary --
I remember an inspector crashing one thinking it was safe, when a cable let loose. Ok this one is obviously stuffed. But if a competent factory is building the whole thing there would be more safe gyros around. In ozz years ago there were no inspections. One guy brazed his control rod together near the head. Scary stuff. I don't know what the regulations are at the moment in Ozz.

Worked as a MIG welder for close to 3 years, definantly MIG welding.
Poor penetration. Would not hold up to pressure testing.
