Hi Everybody,
I have been lurking for some time but would like to
report shortly to all of you.
I am in the middle of PPL training, already 25 hours (7 solo).
If you remember my daubts about the aircraft, STOL
for my small strip, I think I found what I looked for.
It is Morane Saulnier, later SOCATA Rallye
(known also as PZL-150 Koliber).
Unique construction with automatic slats, extremely forgiving.
In France it has a nick-name "tin parachute", (not because
it falls from the sky like a parachute, but because of safety).
It starts and lands on 300 ft roll. Stall chracteristic is similar to a gyro.
You pull up, and pull, and pull, and the slats come out and it just
starts descending flat and slow... NO spin, NO fight.
I love this plane !
The one I fly is almost a vintage one, born 1962, MS 885 "Super Rallye"
with O-300 6 cyl. Continnental 147 hp. Still in excelent shape, due
to excellent service man, who takes care of it.
(BTW he is certified Robinson serviceman)
The field I fly from is ex-military with 1.4 miles strip, full pleasure.
In my training I can do 3 touch-downs on one pattern :-).
Happy pilot
