Rando posted this at the end of a related thread and I thought it should have it's own thread so I am re-posting this info here..
Gyroplane Documentary DVD!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone reading this, get your check book out and ORDER THIS DVD! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! I just received mine and it is a FIRST CLASS production! I am not associtated with the documentary in anyway, I just enjoy anything and everything to do with rotorcraft flying and especially their history.
A copy may be ordered by sending a check for $19.95 + $3.50 shipping & handling to:
Bruce Charnov
134 Hofstra University
Hempstead, NY
11549
The film has gotten great reviews from test showings. Where else can you get Marilyn Monroe, the Monkees + a lost film of the first Autogiro flight in America and a whole lot more!
Order it now, you won't be disappointed!

My copy arrived Friday but I was too busy to watch it until last night.
I am VERY impressed. It was GREAT to watch a professionally produced gyroplane documentary!
What really struck me was that this documentary followed a very unique and unexpected format and story line.
I think it will appeal to a much wider audience then anything I have seen so far.
I can't wait to watch it again after work today!

Dr Charnov also has written a book:
http://www.amazon.com/Autogiro-Gyroplane-Survival-Aviation-Technology/dp/1567205038/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211954014&sr=8-1
I always enjoy his articles in Rotorcraft, too. He's passionate about gyro history. (He's actually written other books, but those are about business management).
Yikes! There's only one in stock at Amazon. Maybe I better buy it quick before one of you guys does. (Oh, wait, I already got one). If somebody snarfs the last one at Amazon, try bn.com or powells.com, they probably have stock.
cheers

Thanks for the info on the dvd- as some of you may know I am now teaching A&P mechanics at a part 147 school. This will be great information for them when we are ahead in the course work.
I have been introducing my classes to the world of gyroplanes, and helicopters. What is really neat to see is their open minds to the potential of the new designs such as those from Jay Carter Jr.. Jays forum on the PAV at Sun & Fun was really informative and he has some awesome spec's and a well thought out design that can really change the gyroplane world and in fact the whole rotorcraft industry. Jay said to expect test flying of the PAV later this summer.
For those who may be looking for Dr. Charnov's book I do have it in the books section of my website. It was in the book of the month section for quite a while but it can still be found in the regular books section. I really do need to change my book of the month on a monthly basis. It is rather expensive but is a very well documented book with many illustrations. The website is www.gyroplanepassion.com.
Just an update... I have been getting quite a few questions on used gyro's and equipment as well as some other inquiries on other subjects and have referred at least five people to the forum in just the last 30 days. There has been a lot of traffic from Australia, Germany, Poland, India, Canada, Israel but what is interesting is the United States is regularly down around the number 16 position in where most of my searches come from to the website. So while the gyroplane interest in the U.S. seems to be gaining some momentum again the real interest in gyroplanes looks to be overseas. Which in a way makes sense with a weak dollar and a very efficient (fuel economical) aircraft that doesn't need a lot of space to operate in. Just thought you would like to know.
I would also like to thank you all who have referred people to the website as many of the pages are now indexed on the first page of Googles search engine, I guess for the most part you all at least part of what the website offers. I have just paid for another years worth of service and hopefully this next year it will pay for itself. I am looking at getting busy on adding some new content to the free download section and have recently got some software to convert some files to web format. These will be charts, logs and other type graphs that you will be able to use as examples to make your own flight test scripts and so on. Just please give me some time to try and work it all out.
Hoping you all had a great Memorial Day weekend and Keep it Safe,
Ken
