On another spy mission in Modlin I spotted
a modified Xenon for a customer in Norway:

1. Tundra tires
2. Rotax 914
3. Enforced door
4. Larger floor windows
5. Landing light

Any idea as to the total fuel load or range with the aux tanks?

Unless I overlooked something after a quick glance the tanks are the same as mine. 22 US gallons total. The larger windows and doors, I think, are standard on all new models. The owner of this ship will be very pleased with the 914.

As far as I noticed they are 22 US gallons each, so 44 US gallons behind seats.
I am not sure, if the standard tanks (old type) on both sides of the mast
are still there.

Corrected: the two tanks are connected - total 22 gal... :(

Fuel consumption is app. 20 l/h, so with 160 l on-board you can fly for 8 hours
(bladder permitting) with 90 mph, so 720 miles.

Hmmm.
Not wantn to piss on ol mate's party ere Paul, but my fat wasa can do 7 1/2 hours on 120L, and travel 750 odd km. [ dun it, so i know] ;)

Birdy, I think the misunderstanding is I meant 720 road miles not NM,
so I meant 1150 km, not 1335 km.

Let's go metric.

No argument, it's just my rough estimate,
Xenon is (supposedly) better in aerodynamics,
so:

Xenon 20 l/h at 140 km/h, 160 l, 8 h, 1120 km
Xenon 16 l/h at 110 km/h, 160 l, 10 h, 1100 km
Wasa 16 l/h at 100 km/h, 120 l, 7,5h, 720 km

Corrected: Xenon just 80 l :(

...looks similar and comparable...

(I hope you'll agree Xenon is 10 km/h faster than Wasa by same revs.)

Mate, a brick is more efficiant than the wasa. :) ;)

It is not 22 gallons per side - the two tanks are connected. It is 22.8 gallons total.

Sorry, my mistake....
Seen the dual fuel pumps and filters in the back
and was sure they were for dual tanks.

44 gallons @ 5.3 gallons/hr, 90 mph, 8 hour roughly flight time.
720 miles (we all understand ground miles). And it has a luggage area.

20 gallons @ 5.3 gallons/hr is still 330 miles in 3 3/4 hrs.

5.3 g/hr @ 90 mph has just became the standard for well designed gyros to attain.

Finally we have a cross country gyro. It opens up a whole new type of buyers and also encroaches into the FW market. Very cool.

Has anyone purchased the insulated package? What is the noise level compared to the Sparrowhawk II or Super Sportcopter?

But now it has to be in a kit?

Actually I am not sure, I am afraid it's just 22 gal,
after what Rob said, but I still don't know what about
the original tank position ?

Is it luggage now, or additional fuel ?

The byers of this Xenon intend to use it semi professionally to find, count and herd reindeer up north in Norway.
They usually rent helicopter and pilot to do this job at a high cost.
It will be exciting to see if this can do some or all of the job that now be done by helicopter.
The local aero club shall operate this service to the reindeer owners.
They do not intend to earn money of this activity, but reduce the cost of the flying sport/hobby.

Now we know what the big floor windows are good for: mustering reindeer.... :)

Another opportunity of finding a way to join the mainstream aviation
and aviation woks for the gyrocopters.

It is well known, that gyrocopters can do 90% of helicopter jobs at 20% cost.

In May Xenon on floats will follow.

Will the Rotax have the power for floats? The prop looks small compared to a magnum IVO. Have they considered a variable pitch prop?

I believe Sportcopter had a rudder in the water for better control. Now if a person could carry a little trolling motor & air raft you would have a alot of fun hopping between Canadian lakes.

Where are the snow skis?
