Here's a couple photos below of my camera ship and mount.

Here's Greg Spicola flying at Bensen Days. :hail: When I was reviewing his footage I had to go get a toothpick because I kept feeling like I had grass stuck in my teeth. :p I'll be posting more of his footage.

The latest version of RealPlayer allows downloading of Youtube videos.

It is their free version. I dont know what length of video it will download but I have downloaded 10 minute + long video.

Mac

I don't mean to be promoting RealPlayer but I know how everybody likes to have a copy of the videos on Youtube.

I agree with that, Tim it look like you had to let up several times to keep that Mac off those Dominator tails. How did you mount your camera and which one did you use? Thanks for sharing.

Greg Spicola was leading, Rick Martin was on his tail and Kevin Aurandt was in front of me. I originally told Greg to fly at 50-55 mph but ultimately around 60 mph is where the mighty mac felt best doing that kind of flying. I was having a hard time staying off Kevin's tail. We had a bullet camera on Greg's gyro facing rearward on that run but the power cable for the camera had a bad spot in it (which we found later) and it didn't record. Greg went out later with the camera on his gyro. I'll work on that footage next.

Mark, I used my Sony Digital8 camcorder mounted on the axle. I'll add a couple photos to the first post showing the mount.

wow, that was fun, wasn't it? I remember following guys arounf hte fields like that too, it was cool. I didn't know what we could do, what were "allowed" to do. It was kinda strange. And the only way I could get the feel for it was to check out other guys flyin. Then I got too close to Dave Seace one day when he was with a student over those fields, and man did I get in dutch with him! oops.

Loved both videos! That cross-country low level strafing is the kind of flying I love.

My best memories of flying my single-place was when Mark Knight and I would get together, and I'd try to catch him flying around his home turf.

I have to agree, the song does fit well, think about it, if ya listen to the words he is talking about hard work and busting your back, and looking for a good time and it don't get better then this.

so if ya look at it from the Gyro stand point, we all work hard so we can fly and when we do fly how many have said to them selves, man it just don't get any better then this.

and you can tell in the Video Ron is cranking and banking his gyro and clearly haveing a good time.

the song fits perfectly.

You got that right animal! Took monday off to unpack from my trip and been busting my balls trying to get my lawn accounts mowed this week. Cut 17 a day, each day so far and have 18 left to do.... If I am lucky I will still have some energy left by Sunday to hand start my blades and do some gyro flying!

I don't know how you get that many in a day, they must be all in the same area, I had a great day yesterday I mowed 3 large lawns and cleared over $100.00,I am thinking about going back down to s.c. soon and fly with Gary Neal some more, he still owes me and hour that I already prepaid for, and I could take enough with me for a second hour, just maybe I will get the feel of landings...lol

so far this John Deere ZTR has been one of my better investments.

btw whats the fuel burn like on the new gyro compared to the 618? it's got to be better which = more flying time.

hows that saying go Mow money.

btw what do you know about gator blades? I have heard from some people that they are a good blade for the mowers. the blades on mine now are pretty dull, suprise they cut as well as they do. also whats the going rate for a lawn now days,I am chargeing $40.00 for a small yard and up for larger. my biggest yard so far is 2 acres .

When I mount my camcorder on my gyro axle I put a piece of tape across the mic. Greg's video was using a bullet camera and the mic was actually inside the small bag with the camcorder. I'll have to experiment with that mic to see if I can muffle it some.

They are all within a certain radius... but I have put over 115 miles on my truck between Wed and Thursday, so there is driving involved.

And some will think your nuts, but base your pricing at 60$ per hour or higher. At certain stops, where I might have 4-6 lawns all side by side, I can average out over 100$ per hour. You got to learn to be quick to fairly charge these rates, and with time you will know how long a yard will take and you can price it accordingly. A typical yard I mow is around 30-32$ a cutting, and it takes about 30 minutes to do.

Gator blades suck. They don't lift the grass enough to get a good cut. A good set of high lift blades, that are sharp ( I use a 4 inch wide belt sander to sharpen mine ) will give the best results. Also make sure the underside of the deck is not choked up with grass stuck to it. Occasionaly I have to jack the front of the mower up and scrape the underside of the deck with a paint scraper.

I still haven't tested the fuel burn. Truthfully it is probably about the same or only slightly less. The 618 flown solo is good on fuel.

Tim, I sent you the Ozzie track for Greg's vid, same email adres i sent to you for Ron's track. Good choice, Greg - one of my all-time favs. I saw Ozzie on his Black Sabbath Tour (Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath) at the East Town Theater in Detroit. No seats, they tore them all out by that concert to get more bodies in. Fire Code? we don't have no stinkin fire code! just sit on the floor with your GF wrapped around ya...yeah, those were the days all right. the 60's were truely a different era.

OK thanks for the Info Ron, I have been chargeing from $30.- $55.00 a yard, most the yards I have are over an acre and take about an hour each plus weedeatting.

but on that same note most my yards are miles apart, I have gone as far as 18 miles for 2 of them, but they are $50.00 and $55.00 yard. I am towing the trailer with my Subaru wagon. so I can afford the gas for the long distance yards. now to just get some more lawns lined up. I may just make enough to get some blades for my gyro yet.

Don't know if you have looked at my Falcon thread lately but I have my extended cheek plated made and mounted 8' 2" to teeter bolt. I Think that should give me plenty of clearance now.

it's slowily coming together. who knows. it may even be ready by the time Wrenns Rolls around.

guess time will tell.

Brent: Picky picky picky. HahA! Yep, I suppose you are technically correct. The line about the 60's doesn't refer so much to an exact, delineated set of points in the space-time continuum so much as a general era -a mood and an attitude, and an exploration of a generation into mind-expansion and hallucinogenic drugs. Anyone who grew up in this time should find it perfectly acceptable to fluff in the first couple of years in the 70's along with the 60's in a brief reminiscence of a time gone by with good memories and bad.

No, I didn't bother to research this to come up with accurate dates. To me, you must understand, it was still the 60's, including my HS graduation in 1972. I'll give you that I had to have had my DL to get downtown, so it had to have been 71 or 72 when I saw them, cuz I didn't have a license prior to that.

And it was prior to the second album!?!?!? Wow, that is even cooler, cuz that means it hadda be their FIRST tour, not the second! Now I am even happier to know that! Thanks :D I know it had to be prior to 72, cuz the girl I took broke up with me very early 72. So, it must have been 71. I think I'll have to revisit their first album and listen to the whole thing soon. See what I've forgotten about it.

And busted? Mike, Mike... Never. Not for making up stories, not for drugs, not for drunk driving (but almost got busted for parking with my girlfriend, hee hee. Those cops sure liked the view. THey wouldn't put their flashlights down, and my GF sure gave 'em hell for that). Although, I do remember waking up in the morning sometimes, wondering what the heck my rag top Cougar was doing in the driveway, and how I got home! Mike, I may be crazy, and I might say/do some pretty outrageous things from time to time, but one thing I am definitely not is a liar.

And remember the concert? Incredible as it may seem, I do remember it. I also remember playing organ in Bob Seger's band briefly while his regular organist was late, at a sock hopp at Highland High, north of Milford, and partying with Ted Nugent in Livonia, and meeting backstage Joe Walsh and the drummer for REO, and seeing the MC5 and Iggy Pop from our home town of Ann Arbor...there's a good story about how Iggy the originator and "The Godfather of Punk" came to be the singer in the Stooges...my Brother in law went to HS with him and told me about it. my first ever real concert Leon Russell, seeing the Stones play the Star, Star tour in a 3000 seat auditorium with Santana and Patty Smith - Carlos blew the Stones totally away, Blue Oyster Cult from the 10th row, Pink Floyd in true quad at Olympia Stadium, whatever. Oh, and before that, when I was in Jr High, my brother used to open the bathroom window to the local gym - "The Cavern" where all the hottest bands played every weekend - so I could sneak in underaged. It was in this little HS gym that I saw first Bob, Ted, The Supremes! and a group called Frijid Pink...later to become Grand Trunk Railroad, which got sued to change the name to Grand Funk Railroad (They were from Flint, and GTRR runs through that town). there i go on a tangent again...sorry...Don't mean to hijack this great thread, but you guys got me on the defensive again here.

Yeah, John, I wallpapered a TON of houses where you live when Canton was being turned into a bedroom community, out of farmland. I was from Northville, K-12. We moved there in '57. I even got to see a C&O steam loco or two chuggin past my first house ther on its way to the locomotive boneyards, to be turned into Caddy's and Mercs in the ROuge Plant. I've been noticing your posts, and your Canton ID for quite a while here. You know the wishing well in Northville, next to the Ford Valve Plant? That plant had an fully operational WATER WHEEL !!!! that I think still turns today, to provide an aternative power source. Henry F was big on producing his own alternative power. THe entire ROuge plant had its own. But a little plant like the NOrthville ? WIth water? Haha! I used to go skinny dipping in the gravel pit behind hte tracks there in the middle of the day after mowing lawns for a few bucks...around '66. if I did that now I'd be in full view of about 1000 residents, and probably get hauled away by the cops.
