Hi there! I´m seriously thinking about building the gyrobee from plans so I would like to ask you something about it:
1º) Can I use this manual/plans ---> http://www.skyguynca.com/gbeer4.pdf to build it or do I need to buy original plans?
2º) Does anyone know how much money can I save doing my gyro. from scratch in contrast with kit option? (taking into account I´m planning to buy engine, prop., rotor head and rotor blades).
3º) How difficult is the gyrobee to build? Do I need some special tools?
4º) Does gyrobee have pre-rotator?
5º) Does the project be checked by an aeronautical engineer every now and then in order to get the airworthiness certificate class?
I´ve just finished my university degree so I´m on low incomes. I just need and aircraft which let me build without economic pressure, step by step at my discretion.
Cheers mates from Madrid

I am not one of the gyro-bee clan but some of my best friends are. Here is a good place to look at plans and everything else gyro-bee.
http://www.thegyrobee.com/gbplans.htm
Most of the bees i know about have pre-rotators because its just so darn practical. Also most bees I know are not ultralights. If you use a motor larger than a 447 and a pre-rotator its pretty hard to make weight in any gryo.
I will leave the rest of your questions to the experts.
Welcome to the addiction.
P.S. Oh i just noticed your in Madrid. If thats the one in Spain ignore the comment about Ultralights. I dont know what your country's requirements for unlicensed flight are or even if they have one.

Joe, thanks very much for your early reply. Anyway, I noticed that aluminium 6061 T6 is almost impossible to find in Europe so thats could be a reason to give up my project due to the fact that I wouldnt like to buy it in USA as duties are important once in Europe.
New questions:
1º) Does anyone know if someone have changed aluminium 6061 T6 for another one equivalent with good results?
2º) Ralph E. Taggart documentation was made in 1997. Is this design still updated? in other words, Can I use the plans without problems?
3º) Does anyone know how much money can I save doing my gyro. from scratch in contrast with kit option? (taking into account I´m planning to buy engine, prop., rotor head and rotor blades).
4º) What´s your opinion about this tail group? ---> http://gerhardbuchner.co.za/side.JPG Any plan available on the net?
Thanks.

6082T6 or HE30TF is used for pretty much all of the homebuilt Gyroplanes in the UK

That´s sounds pretty good. Nevertheless, Ralph say nothing about it in the documentation. I would like to have guarantee before taking the plunge. Anyway, your information is very useful. Thanks.

Does anyone know how much money can I save doing my gyro. from scratch in contrast with kit option? (taking into account I´m planning to buy engine, prop., rotor head and rotor blades).:
All Tubing, Angle, Sheet Metal, and hardware $685.00
Wheels, axles $385.00
Ken Brock Rotor Blades, 48" Hub bar and Head $2550.00
Rotax 503 (used rebuilt by me) $2600.00
IVO Prop $ 340.00
Total $6560.00
These are old numbers from skyguynca (the place you downloaded the plans from) but they give you a start.
A drilled single mast rolling airframe kit ready to assemble w/ seat, tank and rotor head on Starbeegyros.com is listed at $3000 (july 08)
I'm thinking it is not really worth doing all your own drilling unless like myself you simply want to.

Check with Starbee, Ken Brock MFG, has been out of business for a couple of years.
