I love the low beach flying.

Very Nice. I've never seen that long of coast line without alot of houses, cabins, or people. Not much of that around here.

Man that takes me back - thank you for posting this! My week-in-paradise spent training (3 years ago, God help us) involved the *south* Taranaki coast - more of the same glorious stuff. Looking forward to posting some of the Far North coastline... "By the End of the Year"(TM).
Ha: The morning after one of our sorties up the coast we were lurking near the gyro when a white van containing a rather large tattooed Maori gentleman drove up.... "That you up the coast yesterday?". Uh-oh - did we fly over some tribal land and upset someone??? Apparently not: "F---ing awesome, eh bro!"

Yes, that is what my pilot told me: The people don't get upset, they like you. We took several turns over his primary school until all the kids and teachers were out, waving. Here in Germany they have signs at the runway: stick to the pattern, our neighbours know the phone number of the police. :(

Nice story Banaari I can just picture it.

Brent, NZ has about the same area as West Germany, we fit 60 Mio people on it, they have 4 Mio! And most of the Kiwis are very relaxed, no-worries kind of folks. Great place to live.
