Yaaaa!!!,

GBA Gyroplanes of Seattle LLC will be receiving the very first SparrowHawk III kit sold next Wednesday. We are planning to have an open house Friday afternoon to show off the kit. Devon Hansen, SparrowHawk project manager and GBA Senior Vice President, Robin Wilson will be at the open house.

I guess I was able to get the first SparrowHawk III because I bought the very first SparrowHawk kit shipped.

I am proposing to PRA Chapter 30 that we build the SparrowHawk III as a club project and we see how much work it is to build. There will be lots of pictures posted on the build as it goes along.

I know it took over 1,000 hours to build my first SparrowHawk kit. The second one I built took about 600 hours.

I wonder how long this kit will take to build? We'll see. Any guesses?

David Overman, our CFI is a very happy guy because he gets a brand new gyro with more power and hundreds of upgrades.

Tim,

The SparrowHawk III is certainly going to be a much quicker build. As of yet the SparrowHawk III has not received the FAA legal "Quick Build" status. GBA is working with the FAA and, I believe, will soon attain that goal. There is a lot of additional focus by the FAA in that area to make sure that kits are a 51% owner build.

Does it have the same look as the SparrowHawk II or are there any changes in cabin etc?

Scott,
The SparrowHawk I, II, and III all look similar, but GBA continually improves and refines their product, so there are small visible differences. For example, on my SparrowHawk II it all the fuel connections are external to the cabin, but they are inside the SparrowHawk I cabin. In my kit the structural connection between the overhead console and the cabin are also improved.
