So I flew this weekend and it was a bit blustery and the machine had great pitch stability but the yaw was touchy. Should I expect that with the tall tail and a pod that I will be "wagging the tail" a little. I would estimate winds at 20knts with slight gusts. In a due crosswind that thing would be in one heck of a crab to stay on course. Just interested in some input.

Matt & Ron,
Were you two able to condense an answer to the orginial question ie, crab or wagging in cross winds?

Mr grey, in a 20 kt. crosswind, if you were to touchdown uncorrected for crosswind, IOW yaw string straight at you, you would most likely be heading at least 45 degrees off centerline. you must slip in, or either point directly into the wind which should be an easy task for any gyro landing on a FW strip. Happy New Year, to all you gyro nuts.

I can't tell what transpired off-line, but just want to make sure that one thing is clear. The "crab" (I prefer the term "wind correction angle") necessary to stay on course with a crosswind is completely independent of aircraft design. It depends only your heading and airspeed, and the wind direction and speed. You can solve for the angle necessary using a classic old E-6B "whiz wheel" without regard to what type of aircraft you might be flying, and the answer won't change if you change aircraft.
