I know the pilots dad.... Supposedly he had the coaches permission to do this.

If he had a pilot's license, he should have known better than to take the coach's word that it was okay.
DUH on him!

He had his PPL.... matter of fact there is a fly-in this Saturday at the airport he flew out of! Maybe I will get to see the plane he rented!!! ;)
Hey didn't the late David Holmes do something pretty simular in his gyroplane? Seems I remember him doing something along the same lines. In small towns this stuff is usually okay. Where this happened, it is a semi small town, but it is really close to a semi big city, and hence stuff like this ends up blown way out of proportion. It has been all over the local news and radio all day today.

Been there and did that exact same thing when I was in High school . Now that I think about it , I was band from going to the Home Coming Dance for a small incident that I was involved in , so I buzzed the Home Coming Parade instead . I never got reported .
My dear old MOM reported me once for flying a plane through the yard . And then they kicked me out of the house . No sense of hummer . But thats what they get for making it clear to me that they didn't like me .
Oh and now that I'm mature and have a son I would never condone that sort of thing . BAD VERY BAD .
I know of a license lost from flying under a traffic signal in a town with one signal. I was amazed he had a license, this wasn't the only infraction.

We had the same thing happen when I was in high school in the '80's, one student flew an ultralight over the stadium and dropped a roll of toilet paper onto the field.

Even if it is not verboten in the regs they can still get you with "reckless and dangerous" I was told. Not smart.
