Guys and gals,
look for the Carter Copter Technology Demonstrator to be at Oshkosh -- and to attempt a new speed, and probably rotorcraft Mu record (although the latter has no FAI recognition) while there.
The sleek white machine will be on display at AeroShell Square along with some of the other cool stuff like Save A Connie's namesake airliner and the Air Force's historic "Hanoi Taxi" C-141B. (My first parachute jump was from a C-141A in January, 1981. More important to the real world, the C-141 was the first bypass turbofan transport ever built, and the conceptual father of all today's large transport aircraft. All the C-141As were rebuilt to C-141B by inserting a large fuselage plug).
There will also be some other cool stuff like warbirds (B-17, SBD, P-40) and alternative powerplants (Jet-powered Cozy, rotary-powered Cessna, alcohol-fueled Mooney). And for helicopter fans they are hoping to have a CH-47 veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq (the fastest US military helicopter) and some other military helos. With the heavy load on the military, the participating military aircraft will probably all be just penciled-in until the last minute, but there will be some cool GI stuff there.
I'll be at the show although I will probably not arrive till Tuesday evening. I'm going to want to talk to two vendors about a gyro, apart from my scribbling duties.
cheers
