Hi all your Rotor Heads,

Since our October meeting is coming up in a little over a week I thought I would send out a reminder so you can make sure this is on your calendar and you are able to make it. We will meet next at the AirGyro Hanger in Spanish Fork on Thursday Oct. 4th at 7PM. The main event will be a presentation by Mike Burton (our local Gyro CFI Expert) on Rotor Management. This will be very important information for anyone who flies or ever plans to fly any Gyro. We will also have a video of some Gyro flying and I will bring some pictures from the Ken Brock Freedom Fly In this weekend and then of course the usual refreshments so plan on being there and bring a friend. It is really exciting to see out group grow each month.

I would also ask that you put some thought into what you would like to see us do for a main event next summer. I know we have a limited amount of Gyros between us right now (however by next summer that number will have grown considerably) but I think it would be a good idea to start planning some kind of Fly In or some kind of Event that we can hold this coming summer and then start making it an Annual event. Think about what you’d like to do and when you think would be a good time to do it. If we get started on it now, by next summer we could really have a great event. So bring some suggestions. Anyone that is not able to make it to the meeting but would like to have some input into what we plan just reply to this e-mail with your thoughts and I will see that they get shared with the group.

See you soon,

DOUG BARKER

Doug,

Maybe we could just all get together at the Airgyro hanger with our projects and have a barbque and talk gyro's. It would be a start and give folks the chance to see some different designs and maybe generate some interest. It could be posted on some different web sites and anyone who flies in wether it be a fixed or slingwing could get a free burger and drink courtesy of PRA chapter2. Of course we would require Nates permission. I would be willing to help out any way I can and it would give use all a chance to get our names out there? Let me know what you think?

Gary,

I was thinking along the same line. First of all we want to make it a fun social event for those who are already members. And second we want to do something to attract potential members. Maybe we can raffle off an introductory Gyro flight and get some Gyros to do a exhibition flight for the people on the ground. We'll have to brainstorm until we have several exciting activities to draw members of the public so we can get some better exposure and give us a chance to recruit some new members. I am sure the main reason there are not tons of people flocking towards Gyro flight is they just don't know enough about it. We need to get them out to where they can learn more about it. Thanks for the ideas. I know I would be attracted by a free hamburger (or anything to do with flying). See you soon.

Larry,

We're sorry you weren't able to make it to the meeting. It was great!!! (although I admit anytime I get to have anything to do with Gyros is great to me) It really was exciting to me to be able to get together with others who share my love of Flying (and Gyros in particular) and discuss what is happening in the Gyro World and where we are headed. We are so fortunate to have members from Air Gyro and from Groen Brothers in our group. With their experience and knowledge of things in development I kind of feel like an insider who is privy to information the rest of the world doesn't know yet.

I can't wait till we have several Gyros flying in our group so we can get together and go flying. I am sure it will come if I am just patient. It's just hard to be patient. We talked about planning a PRA Chapter 2 Fly In for around the end of August 2008. The date has not been finalized as we want to do a little research and make sure we don't conflict with something else big in our area that would detract from what we hope to draw. Many exciting ideas were expressed and we got so in to talking about things that are happening that we didn't give Mike enough time to cover all that he had prepared for us so we will have to do a "Part 2" at an upcoming meeting.

Next month we are going to be taking a tour of one of our local projects, so stay tuned for more information.
