Pretty neat Robert. I know nothing about jets of that type, but that seems a little pricey for only 130 pounds of thrust on a glider with no prerotator. What do those jets cost, and how much time could you get on a tank of fuel, I wonder. All in all, it seems rather impractical, to me.

Can you imagine pulling up to your local airport fuel dock and asking for 5 gallons of "100LL propane"? 110 pounds of thrust isnt going to get you very far (or high)

I would like to know what kind of range it has. Nifty machine, looks like it should be in a museum or honored private collection.
I would buy it and fly it if I knew it could lift and fly me for 45min and I had a spare $5K.
I wonder if you can trust blades that old.

Can you imigine trying to fly that thing without a tail of any sort?

I think it is supposed to have a tail. It is being converted to B8M I think it said.
I hope nobody falls for this crap...

Guys,
I think somebody will buy it, and someone who hasn't had much exposure to gyros either. :(
As Chuck and Tim said, "where's the tail ??". I could just imagine a PIO or PPO occuring just 15 - 20 feet above the ground with a novice pilot in command, in it's current state. Disaster !!
In respect to the tail and h-stab, I think it will have to be made with a high-temp and flame retardant material to cope with the hot jet blasting out at the rear. Can't really see a fibreglass, aluminum, or plywood tail lasting any longer than 10 sec. before it bursts into flames or melts.
It's a curiousity that's for sure. Always seen photos of the Gluhareff jets at the end of rotor blades, not as seen here.
One saving grace though, at least the seller hasn't tried to bullsh!t about it having rocket-like performance or whatever.

Wooden blades and a jet engine, now there’s an “interesting” combination! I doubt anyone would be foolish enough to buy that for it’s purported purposed. But that jet engine might be fun on a lightweight go-cart or scooter. (Yeah, paint it black and call it the "Bat Scooter" :p ) Bet the neighbors would love it. :D

There's a couple of other interesting gyros on eBay that might not be so far out.
RAF 2000 (complete package, has stab, w/encl. trailer and tow vehicle, $40k)

Shorter link to same:

Looks like some Bensen or Brock heritage with a Soob jammed on it. At a glance this looks like a PPO seeking a point of impact -- I'll take my chances with the pretty RAF:

Looks like I didn't need to use "make a shorter link" cause the forum software squishes the links like the MacOS does with long filenames in narrow windows. This forum software Todd picked is really growing on me.

Kevin, I agree with you on the Bensen's lawn dart potential. Notice the ebay ad says 60 hours airframe and ZERO hours engine. The prop line looks quite high for this much power on a light airframe with small m/r blades. Don't think you would get many takers on being the first test pilot of this machine.

Scott,
Here's my theory about it. Maybe its been flown as a glider for 60 hours. Then having got bored, or used to it, decided to bolt on a Subie engine. Realising that they were now going into uncharted territory, no-one was probably prepared to play 'test pilot'. Hence, the sale.

Les, I totally agree. I had the same thoughts you did in your earlier post about the tail material also.

I got a private msg requesting better pics on this machine.
I have nothing to do with this piece of garbage. I just thought you'd all get a good laugh out of it.
I think these engine plans were sold in PM magazine in the mid 70's

Rob,
Plans for the Gluhareff Jets are still available to buy. I think Vortech Products are selling them, along with light helicopter and gyro products.
I remember sending away for a information kit about the jets to the same company Vortech in the mid-80's, when I just getting interested in learning about the wonderful world of gyros.
