While at Mentone, my pitch trim ring got tight and essentially froze up. I could get maybe 1 full turn on the handle and it was tough to turn. After trying to see into the system ( that's not easy ) I cut the cables by the springs and removed the entire system. What I found was this : The threaded rod on both sides of the " block " had deformed threads; somewhat flattened and spread out. It was almost like a piece of grit or something else got in the threads and acted like a cutting tool. The block is certainly a harder steel than the rod. The fix seems to be to replace the threaded rod ( I may replace both ). I'm thinkin' maybe useing a harder steel threaded rod and lubricating it. Lubrication may attract dust / grit etc. and become a problem itself. Anyone had this situation before ? Thanks Tom T. Hall in MN
