Greetings,

The Xenon looks like one of the nicest gyros of all time, and something that was desperately needed. Unfortunately, once the ELSA grace period runs out in January 2008, I don't see how it be possible to register one in the US?

Do they plan to offer a Xenon "kit"?

Will it be certified, so it can be sold complete?

I'm not currently in the market, just curious. It would be such a shame if this gyro became unavailable, just as it was getting really popular :(

Cheers,
Rusty

Rusty,

The ASTM gyroplane committe has spent a lot of time drafting standards for E-LSA gyros. The FAA has spent a lot of time drafting the ASTM guidlines into law for E-LSA gyros. It seems likely they did not do this as an exercise.

There are still hurdles to overcome but we are confident before long we will receive permission to sell E-LSA gyros after Jan 08.

Hi Rob,

Admittedly, I haven't kept up with this as closely as I'm sure you have, but my understanding was that the FAA wasn't going to allow any SLSA gyroplanes. After the deadline, doesn't there have to be an SLSA example to allow for ELSA examples (kit version of SLSA)?

If they've reconsidered this, or if I'm just mistaken about how it works, then great, problem solved :D

Either way, I want to see the Xenon prosper, since it's something the average general aviation type will have to take seriously.

Best of luck,
Rusty

Rob,
I have the first draft of the letter we discussed in the Board meeting. Needs a couple of tweaks but should be ready to send out early next week. It will be somewhat generic in nature as it will address all gyroplane manufacturers. I really appreciate your time and the professional manner in which you brought this matter to the PRA Board of Directors.
Sorry I didn't get the opportunity to fly the Xenon at the Convention. My schedule was a little tight this year, but would certainly like the opportunity to test it out if I can get a rain check.
Thanks again,
Rusty
